If that fat ass from Washington drops to us I would suggest taking him he would be the perfect 1 tech. And be perfect for the dl rotation. Hardy, crawford, Shelton and Lawrence would beat down qbs
McKinney is a freak athlete with excellent size (6-4, 246 pounds). Watch Tim Tebow rave about him in the highlight video embedded below:
Adding on, here's what NFL Draft Analysts Dane Brugler and Rob Rang had to say about McKinney's strengths, via NFLDraftScout.com:
"Raw, versatile athlete. Lined up at middle linebacker and rushed off both edges. Runs in the 4.5s with a 34-inch vertical. At his best with the ballcarrier in front of him. Physical taking on blocks with long arms and physical punch. Fluid athlete for his size, showing good lateral agility and very impressive acceleration to track down ballcarriers from behind. Long arms and good hand-eye coordination to trip up ball carriers."
The Cowboys recently signed linebackers Keith Rivers, Jasper Brinkley, and Andrew Gachkar, but lost key LBs in Bruce Carter and Justin Durant. Although the two losses were never fully healthy throughout their Cowboys career, they made an impact when they were on the field. Replacing them will be important.
With uncertainty around re-signing starting linebacker Rolando McClain, the Cowboys could be gearing up for selecting a linebacker early in the draft. McKinney seems like a more than fine option.
Nick Hayden resigned. Guy has been a hard worker for us, but to be honest if our line is going to be better we need to good enough other players that he becomes expendable. He can't rush the passer and really isn't great against the run. If he wins a rotational job I'm fine with it, but I hope this contract has very little guaranteed money, if any at all...
