Rumor has it that we are looking for pass rushers. So I don't think rounds 2 and 3 make sense. Wormley was taken way too high Ritz. Just my 2 cents.

I just didn't see Wormley lasting till when we picked in 2nd. Ever person/site has a different ranking on players but I kept hearing Wormley is a true 3-4 DE not one where we would hope could transition from 4-3 to a 3-4. Hell its all gambling on views on players. I think I've done well in addressing our team needs so far. Yes I would have liked to maybe get a safety and taking a RB in 1st was questionable but like I mentioned before losing D-Jax & Garcon hurt us and McCaffeys versatility would cause problems for defenses. The 3-4 DE Bennett from Tennessee (I think) got taken way to early which I figured he would fall to us. From the players on the board I had Caff as BPA. Dean in order of need what positions do you feel we are needing. My thoughts are.
1) NT
2) DE
3) S
4) WR
5) ILB
6) G
7) QB (moves up if KC traded on draft day) However don't see anyone I drool over

Yeah...Based on how deep defensive line is, my only complaint would be addressing it in the 2nd and 3rd.
Wormley looks like he'll be a great rotational end for nickel, Johnson likely will need time to start at NT.
I'm sure there is going to be a guy that can develop into a Brandon Williams type in the 4th

I like the CM pick. McDowell offers way more upside b/c of his pass rushing skills but he is a boom/bust player.

Top needs going into this draft are RB, ILB, OLB, FS, DE, and NT.

I like the trade. Seriously, when was the last time a 7th did anything remarkably well for us. Wormley is a long term starter.

People see we traded 3 picks for 1 but actually we only switched 2nds so only gave up a 4th&7th to get a starter. The way the draft was going I didn't see McDowell or Wormley falling to us so I decided it was time to trade up. I basically got a late first round pick which is early for Wormley but not a huge reach.

WASHINGTON REDSKINS - RITZY
1.17 : Christian McCaffrey - RB - Stanford
2.34 : Chris Wormley - DE - Michigan
3.81 : Jaleel Johnson - DT - Iowa

TRADES: 49,123 & 235 to San Francisco for 34

I had us moving BACK and still picking up Cook and getting another 3rd in return. I also see us picking up an extra late pick by moving another pick around. Thats what we like to do.

1st- Dalvin Cook, RB, FSU

Need we say more. Stud RB who can hit the home run every time he touches it. Can get tough yards and can catch a pass in a pinch too.

2nd- TJ Watt, OLB, Wisky

The bloodlines, the motor. Can set the edge and stop the run. Tough hard nosed player who would be a good teammate.

3rd- Sidney Jones, CB, Washington
Top 15 talent until he tore his leg up. Will need a year or two, but could be a roll of the dice that pays off big.

3rd - Kendell Beckwith, ILB, LSU
A tackling machine at LSU. Could be a nice pupil for our neweset stud inside. Probably a ST player as well.

4th- Patrick Elfein, C/G, tOSU

Coaches say he is great work ethic. May be a bit undersized for G but could transition to Center easily.

4th- Isaiah Ford, WR, Virginia Tech
My VT homer pick of the year. His game somehow reminds me alot of Pierre G. Didnt combine particularly well and was once thought of as a 1st or 2nd at worst. Holds all sorts of VT records. Has great hands.

5th- Zach Banner, G/T, USC
Guy is huge at around 6'7" 330+. Road grader in the run game and has surpisingly good feet (played some B-Ball at USC). Most likely a RT but could move inside too.

6th- Jarron Jones, DT/DE, Notre Dame

Early round ability, but was inconsistent and had some injuries. I watched this guy and he ate us up. If he would have returned, would have likely been more like a 2nd-3rd rounder.

6th- Jordan Sterns, S, Oklahoma St.
Plays bigger than he is and had a very nice Senior Bowl week. A good versatile guy at S

7th- Josh Tupou, DT, Colorado
Huge NT at 350ish. Stick him in on 1st down and dare Big D to run Zeke up the middle. Developmental, Situational guy until he gets some reps.

7th- Chad Kelly, QB, Mississippi

"Swag" Kelly, Nephew of Jim. Dude is a straight up knucklehead/asshat like Manziel, but is sooo much better wrt throwing the ball. He has an attitude like Cutler...you know, like his shit don't stink. He moves around well and is a very good athlete with a very good arm. Reminds me a little bit of Favre, Rodgers, and Romo. Plays with alot emotion passion. Boom/Bust prospect for sure. He could be the next Aaron Rodgers or just as easily the next Johnny Football. If he is successful, everyone except his team/fans will hate him .. he is that guy.
not a bad draft and you have a real steal candidate in jones just comimng aboard when breeland contact is up

wormley is an excellent pick for us . i have watched him a lot at UM , johnson is another guy who is just what we want . you add tomlinson and we have the makings og a very good young d/line

not a fan of CM , however if its followed up with those 3 potential starters /rotational guys then we did well

If the pick is RB in round 1 then pass rusher or ILb should be the pick in round 2. Wormley is not a pass rusher. 3-4 run stopper. If we did go dline in round two I would go MCDowell b/c he has a way bigger upside with pass rushing ability.

How is a 3-4 De run stopper a priority right now? With the Mac guys plus Lanier, and Ionman. Plus Hood. It should be Rb, Pass rusher, ILB, or Fs in rounds 1 and 2.

No he is not a good all around player. Does not bring anything to his pass rush game.

Pro Football Focus compared Michigan DL Chris Wormley to New England Patriots DT Lawrence Guy.

"Wormley should be able to step into an NFL defense immediately and be a competent run defender, much like Guy. The pass-rushing part though he’ll have to develop and may never come around," explained the PFF analysis team. They are extremely high on Wormley overall, forwarding the opinion that "there aren’t many moldable pieces of clay on the interior as impressive as the Michigan defensive lineman in this class." Rotoworld's Josh Norris ranks Wormley as the No. 27 overall prospect in the 2017 pool.

Wormely's a quality player who coaches love. I see him as a very good second round pick - a bit of a reach as the 17th pick.

@skinsdad62

Looks like when I pick in 5 selections that Jarron Jones - NT Notre Dame would be available. Of course we already have NT Jaleel Johnson but another NT would really help us out. Thoughts?

Some guys we could take in round 4.

Jarron Jones - NT
Isaac Asiata - G/C
Lorenzo James - S
Montae Nicholson - S
Noah Brown - WR
Dorian Johnson - G
Jordan Morgan - G
Elijah Lee - ILB
Or other

IM going with Jones here. Between him and Johnson, when we go into the nickel we have two guys I think Dont NEED to come out of the game.

Jones's red flags about work ethic scare me but it's 1) a mock draft so doesn't matter 2)it's a 4th round pick who has potential for a 2nd rounder

Now if you take Jones you could follow up with Dorian Johnson if we still have the extra 4th

Also is Sidney Jones still on the board or Fabian marcuea ? They are injured but could be FB steals

Don't have the extra 4th cuz I traded it to move up in 2nd to get Wormley. Ill take Jones which would give us.
1) Christian McCaffey - RB
2) Chris Wormley - DE
3) Jaleel Johnson - NT
4) Jarron Jones - NT (helps if we go into 4-3 base)
