Another odd thing with these drafts is the "peak" rule. We should be looking at players careers.... Someone that had five insane years should not be better than some one with 20 great years...

Pretty sure Frank Tanana is the 2nd best lefty in this draft. Wish I could have seen him and Nolan Ryan together in the 70's. I saw the Ephesus Pitch version instead.

I have no idea who played college ball in 1980. Isaiah Thomas? I know Bird and Magic didn't.

If you go college hoops, I'd go 2 sets of years or a 4 year spread for sure, or the teams are gonna be so so. If we have 10 guys playing, picking 12 player rosters, that's 120 kids, and there are only 15-20 kids in any given year that make an NBA roster.

Something I think would be fun and kind of random at some point would be going a specific sport with any # ending the same.....like MLB 30, 40, 50, 60(cause the great sport of baseball is the one sport where you don't lose anything going back that far), NFL 94, 04, 14, or NBA 82, 92, 02, 12

I am definitely in for college basketball if people want to do it. I agree with UK that you may have to open up the years a little bit to get more player involved.

Having it span a few stretching in the 2000's would be fun with the way the game has been growing.

So many players that you wouldn't take in an NBA draft but would for college.

Rule question: is the year to go by the ML debut or first eligible rookie season. I have a guy I want who only made 1 start in his first season and want to use him next decade

I'm pretty sure the first ever ML appearance is the date you go by.

It's the first time they swung a bat or three a pitch in a big league game

Another idea?

We each pick a team, then pick 2 or 3 players from that team... The team is closed for 2 or 3 rounds... Then all the team are re-opened and we start again in reverse order...

I have a thought on something I suggested earlier. What if instead of having rounds of a specific year drafted, it's off a decade drafted. Let's say we have 8 guys playing, and we had a 4 player draft from each decade, 40's through present, for 32 players per team. Each of the 8 guys drafting would pick 1st in all four rounds of a decade. For instance, if Nos free the 1st pick in the 40's, he'd pick 2nd in 50's, 3rd in 60's, and he'd pick 8th in 2010's round. If I picked 8th in the 4 rounds of the 40's, I'd then pick 7th in the 50's, 6th in the 60's, and finally 1st in the 2010's. That way, everyone would have 4 players from each decade, and each guy would pick in like spots. Also, trading could be made between any decade

To make it harder, we could use specific years instead of decades. Like drafted in 42,52,62, etc.

There's a point where it can't be too confusing

Have you done a draft where you can ONLY draft players who played longer than 15 seasons...

How about for the next draft, we institute a salary cap. We could put in a standard chart for salary per player. Say:
NFL
Hall of Famer $20 million
All Decade $15 million
All Pro $5 million
Pro Bowl $2 million
All other players $1 million

Have a set roster of 30 players with a salary cap of $75 million. This would allow us to use all time greats without having the teams get stacked to a degree where they are all unbeatable

We could also do a current players draft, and while there would be no Hall of Famers, we could allow 2 WC's per team(optional) meaning you could drop $40 million on a couple of HOFers, or not use the WC, and take more Pro Bowlers

I like the idea but I don't believe 75M would be enough. I think we should work on the cost for the players as well. But I like the idea...
