I wouldn't say that about Hensley. Kontos, maybe. Two weeks off for Hensley shouldn't effect him much at all, at this point in the year. A couple of bullpen sessions and a live low leverage game situation, and he'd be good to go.

We'll just have to wait and see... Mota isn't yet listed on the roster so we may have to wait a day.

It's all a moot point. Mota activated, Affeldt on paternity leave.

This is a downgrade but at least it's while we face some bad teams.

I hope he doesn't try to feed the kid frozen burgers.

This is even better than any of our proposed solutions. Paternity is only 5 games, right? ends just after the roster-lock.

Perfect.

Bochey and Sabean luck out again...

Hopefully Affledt isn't the 3rd Giant to fail an important test this year.....

Difference is, for the first time this year, a Giants player WANTS to test positive on a blood test...

Looking at the 40-man, they COULD call up Kieschnick, then DL him allowing Kontos to come right back.

Calling up RK for this purpose would use up an option for him. Not sure the benefit is enough for that cost. Also, I am not sure this offers the gymnastics needed.

I don't believe that would use an option. Options are used when sending a player on the 40-man to the minors, not when he is called up or added to the DL. (In fact, in order to place a guy already on the 40-man on the 60-day DL in order to free up a spot on the 40-man for somebody else, he MUST be on {or added to} the active roster first, and he receives major league pay and major league service time while on the 60-day DL.) Kieschnick was added to the 40-man last November, so an option was already used when he was sent to the minors this March. And "options" are "option years", so a player can be called up and sent back down many times during the season, only using one option.

Well, strike that. Hensley placed on 15-day DL with a right groin strain, Affeldt activated.

Is it Kontos? I think I'd DL Hensley instead. I'm sure something is hurting on his arm/body.

....and it turns out it is Hensley. Strained groin.

I guess it's a matter of style...

I referenced Hunter Pence's hacktacious ways by calling him "Aaron Pence". Terse sure, but evokes the underlying concept immediately. Grant, at McC, notes the similarities with Rowand, and references it thusly:

He's chasing pitches out of the strike zone like he's Aaron Rowand with glaucoma who smoked medicinal marijuana because of the glaucoma but got so high he closed his eyes and curled into a fetal position on his bed to ride out the wave, which is much worse than regular ol' Aaron Rowand.

Billingsley done for year?

Los Angeles Dodgers' Stan Kasten worried Chad Billingsley will miss season -- report - ESPN Los Angeles

Jansen out some too?

Los Angeles Dodgers' Kenley Jansen out indefinitely due to heart problem - ESPN Los Angeles

You don't wish injuries on guys, but when they happen to the right ones...sweet!

Of course with the $$ Brigade losing Billingsley just means they will bring in another overpriced guy.

According to this, long term we might not mind the Dodger idiocy going on:
