Wow. I guess Brooks won't let us link to their site. In any event, the graphs showed a pretty good strike zone. At the park, it looked like he was calling a lot of low balls as strikes; the graphs reveal they actually were strikes.

Are you sure you linked to the "adjusted zone" charts? Those are the ones you want. I checked them quickly last night, and I thought they showed ~7 below the zone balls were called strikes.

That's the key. Come correct right off the bat to earn the Non-Ignore Status. As an example, on the Warriors' board, I knew CitySushi, EKmane and clyde were worth reading on a regular basis within their first 3 posts on that board. I already knew Chuck knows his shit (and to avoid Cam at all costs ) from the ESPN days.

It's the economy of time issue that tzill and I discussed when I bashed movie and music critics. I have the time to sit through an awful 2-hour movie or shitty 45 minute album, but I can't stand spending 15 minutes on articles written by people with severely different tastes than me or 30-seconds spent on unsubstantiated whining or blatant observation with no suggested call-to-action or question. I know this thinking doesn't make a lot of sense, but it keeps me content.
