So Paul Holmgren moved his entire team to the Western Conference in 30 minutes, but Bettman can't move Winnipeg until 2012?

This Richards trade is a huge head scratcher. I can see wanting to dump Carter's long term salary in the wake of his playoff performance, and the obvious glaring need for a goalie. I can even see the possible friction between Pronger and Richards in the dressing room. But Richards is the future, Pronger is a fucking cripple. The only thing I can think of is Homer suddenly realized that two massive long term deals isn't really a very good idea, and panicked.

Philly now has a pretty nasty hole up the middle, maybe they can bring in Rich Peverley. He's like Mike Richard's twin brother practically.

Holy fucking shit-pretty well sums it up.

I was expecting the Carter deal,but in all reality was not shocked by them moving Richards.He and Laviolette were not on same page.

Am very excited with the roster they're going to have,but with the $$$ they have freed up,I see some more fine tuning to come.

Let's get some other fucking teams out there making some noise.
Time to consume mass quantities.

This is just madness really. I thought Holmgren was a good GM...now I know for sure he fucking sucks. He should be fired on the spot imo.

before these 2 trades he was under the salary cap gun ... he still managed to get back good assets ... the other gms could have put his nuts in a vise ... so he wasnt totally robbed

1. Carter trade is an A+++++
2. Richie trade is just WOW did not see that coming. I love Schenn though so I don't hate the move. B+

Columbus really got worked in the Carter deal, a first AND a third, plus a top 6 winger? Peace out.

I understand why we traded Richards (get rid of the cap, and plus it was clear the whole captain thing wasn't gonna work out) But now we are left with essentially only two centers (Anybody wanna inform me about who this Schenn guy is?)

IMO Richards isn't the "future" anymore, that was 5 years ago, if we can trade Verdweeb and the 8th we got from columbus to Florida for the third I think in the long run it makes us better....Im not so sure about next year though

This will allow us in the long run to sign Leino, JVR and Coburn, plus another center

Exactly. Once Carter was traded, weren't they in the clear? If not, it seems like there had to be SOMEONE they could have moved, other than Richards. I bet Sather could have been talked into taking on Hartnell's contract.
