So another unarmed black man was killed in California yesterday.

Police shoot, kill man in San Diego area; protesters gather

Without trying to sound insensitive, if I'm not following police orders to take my hands out of my pockets, and then take something out of my pocket and point it at the police in a shooting stance, I fully and wholeheartedly expect to be shot.
The guy had mental health issues. Maybe, just maybe, cops should be certain it is a gun before they shoot...

So at the rally or whatever you want to call it, they chanted "Black Lives Matter" and "Hands Up Don't Shoot!"

So.....I'm confused. Where did this man have his hands up in the air asking the officer not to shoot? Is this really what people think? That black men are just getting shot for the fun of it?

Literally in every case the person shot always does something such as point something at the officer. Every story goes the same way. How about don't fucking point anything at the officer......like.....ever. I wonder how many of these "injustices" would have taken place by now if all of these people actually did put their hands up in the air and just stand there.
An eye witness said they saw him with hands up, according to the article.

That is literally just not true, but it is mighty white of you.

I hope this thread gets buried come Saturday.

How many more opportunities does MRI and company have to kneel during the anthem? It won't be at a home game. How many away games will the players be on the field for the anthem?

I'm asking for my old age white friend

If you would like to discuss the Charlotte shooting, we can after we are finished with the San Diego shooting.

Can we discuss the shooting of Austin Baier of Louisville, NE first?

What's not true? The article says they were chanting that.

And the reports were that the guy pointed an object at the cop which later was found not to be a weapon.

I'm confused as to what I'm missing here.

I guess you're probably talking about where I said literally every case is the same. Yea I shouldn't have said that because like @iruletheskool pointed out there have been about 5-10 cases where really shitty people who happen to also be cops went and shot black people for no reason.

There is no denying that has happened and there is no denying there are shitty racist cops.

But there is denying the fact that there are a lot of cops like that. There aren't.

They're not gonna do it anymore. They said they made their point.

I just wish that he would have delivered his message better, sounded way to nervous, too fast and sounded like he was reading a script.

I guess I just don't understand kneeling. I love that it's a nonviolent way of protest but if you're really unhappy about something then do something about it. kneeling is not really accomplishing anything other than starting a controversy about disrespect. Which is not really the issue I think we are talking about. it's about equality. in my opinion. I think in order to achieve this we need to have Town meetings. and communication not through Twitter. not through text but actually talking to people and looking people in their eyes and knowing that you are actually trying to mend Bridges and create new ones and burn them if need be.

Um...what do you think the governor would have said had MRI asked him for a meeting last week?
