-11 into the 4th, the Heat need to make some stops for this to turn into a real comeback attempt -- but even then, at this point the Heat may make a rally that falls short -- they can't seem to string stops together.

There are a couple love affairs the Heat must put an end to but I don't think we will see a full commitment to that until the goal/priority is to win again as opposed to just development

Agreed. Like they forgot to play after the 1st. This team is a 500 team or so and nothing else. Hard to expect more. Will they have a winning record on the home stand?

No. This is the last time so unless they make a crazy comeback. They'll end 2--2

Game is obviously over and Spo refuses to play Ellington.

Just a reminder that this a guy who DID NOT play a single preseason game.

The least you can do as a coach is give a guy who did not play at all in the preseason a little bit of game action when the game is decided

Like I said earlier, the Heat looked for ways to lose this one and succeeded.

To borrow words said earlier, this team is who they are -- a .500 team at best -- to expect anything more is crazy -- they have to show more in order to realistically expect more -- they haven't.

So you put it in your after game thoughts, why hasn't Wayne Ellington been used at all since his availability? Tyler Johnson's struggles on defense were on full display against the Kings and his offense has been terrible to say the least. Ellington isn't a lockdown player on defense, but his threat from deep is a glaring missing piece for an offense that has been very sporadic from beyond the arc. -- Jorel, Tampa.

A: First, with a player who is returning from injury, it is difficult for an outsider to determine if there are any remaining limitations or if the conditioning is there. But considering Wayne has been cleared to play for several days, it is surprising the Heat would not utilize a player they went into the luxury tax to pay. Because of Wayne (and all the contracts signed previously, of course), the Heat find themselves in a tenuous dance with the luxury tax. You go into such a state if you believe such a player is essential. So if Wayne is essential, it would seem there would be enough essential moments to utilize him. Otherwise, you essentially are saying that management went into the tax for nothing more than a role player. You can't say one thing with your payroll in July and then another with the season underway. Or can you?

Replay did show that Wade had 1 foot in when given 3 shot foul - so a retirement-gift of sorts for Wade from the refs

By the looks of it, the Heat will be put of other misery early in this game -- or do they have a comeback in them?

-10 at the half for the Heat - and I have said far too many times already this season, they are lucky to just be down by that amount. 20-9 in favor of the Hornets in FT attempts, although at least the Heat are perfect from the line so far.

8 turnovers is a number that has the Heat trending in a bad direction again tonight -- they need to fix that if they really want back in this game.

The defense is atrocious as usual -- 65 points given up at the half is beyond unacceptable but this seems to be the new normal for the Heat on defense
