Remember the season where we ended up with the #2 pick and selected Beasley - we were projected to get the 1st pick based on odds, it didnt workout that way and we took Beasley while the Bulls took now oft-injured Derrick Rose - point is, the lottery, much like the rest of the draft is not an exact science, that is why tanking is not exactly as good of an approach to take as some idiot in here makes it seem.

As a team, and for individuals up and down the roster, the Heat still have much to play for even if the playoffs isnt one of those things - this organization doesnt tank.

Chris Bosh, Josh McRoberts, Hassan Whiteside, Chris Andersen, Shabazz Napier, Wade, when he isnt sitting out games for no reason, Deng, UD, Chalmers, Dragic - these are all guys who have or have had important roles within the team this season, but who have also been injured just way too often - This has caused the Heat to have to often play guys like Ennis, Walker, Beasley, Johnson, hell even when Justin Hamilton was around he played a short stretch of significant minutes.

Given the circumstances, the Heat are right where they should be. It is the painful and honest reality

We obviously aren't going to tank on Tuesday night.

Id say if we don't win at least 2 of the next 3, then Wade and Whiteside will/should be shut down.

2 separate things, but I'd agree with the others that Spoelstra has been very stubborn with his rotation patterns.

Sometimes you just have to go with the hot hand, the flow of the game.
Spoelstra seems to have his minutes mapped out and only will adjust if there is foul trouble.

Yes. He is all about data analytics. Seen it in business. Data analytics should be a tool, but in any activity involving humans and emotion, you need to go on feel to a certain extent. He does not seem to have that in him. Also, he clearly needs someone to help him with offensive sets. An offensive specialists is needed on this staff.

Again, with the injuries, its very difficult to establish any continuity with the rotation and sub patterns - as our broadcasters said today, the injuries are not an excuse for the Heat - and if there is one thing Spo has done is made sure the team doesnt use that as an excuse - the injuries are not an excuse for the Heat but it is reality.

Shit, given our situation - playoffs or not - this season has been rather successful - it couldve been a heck of a lot worse

Spoelstra saying the same no excuse shit every night in post game comments doesn't mean anything.

He's also said dozens of times that they would figure it out.

I'm not putting as much blame on him as some others here, but he's certainly not entitied to the free pass you have given him.

We, for the most part, lose every close game we are involved it.
If we were that injured, the games wouldn't be that close.

We have no identity. Why we shoot 3 s is mind boggling when Whiteside is playing.
Dragic needs to be the qb down the stretch.

I dont give free pass, and never have given him one, either. I just simply understand the mans hands are tied and he has done far and beyond anything he could possibly do to get the best out of this group given the circumstances.

I agree that the offense should be run through Dragic more often down the stretch - and thats where I have been critical of Spo - you have Dragic, Chalmers at the G position - thats who you should run the offense through instead of the washed up, always settling for jumpers Diva Wade

It would seem as though the Heat will just go through the mentions the rest of the way and just play the season out until it is over - cant blame them for it - given our bad luck with injuries, thats the best approach to take to make sure no one else gets hurt. And again, to the idiot that suggested injuries are an indictment on coaching.. thats just stupid.

You obviously can't read Paula. Deng having MRI and Beasley having MRI. Both could be shut down Monday. Leaving the game with Charlotte as who will try worse to lose. Don't think we need to try very hard to lose against the Bulls and Raptors and Magic and 76ers if most of our players have shut it down. 2-9 in 2 point games is an indictment on the coaching. The Bucks and Pistons games were awful. The offensive sets are an indictment on the coaches. He picked his staff and had every right. He had a very easy 6 years. In two years, Wade was a top 5 player in the league and led the league in scoring, and then in 4 years he had 3 of the top 15 players in the game. He won and is a champion, but this team needs to make sure he gets the help he needs down the road.

How do you know that he has done "far and beyond anything he could possibly do to get the best out of this group"?

You always ask the others if they are in the huddles, locker room, etc..

If you aren't, then why does your assumption hold more weight then there's?

After losing last night, Im on board with just missing the playoffs and getting into the lottery. Spoesltra is without a doubt a terrible coach, but its not all on him. When you know your season is on the line, the players need to step up and actually care about the outcome. Someone needed to step up and take control of the team. that didnt happen. Losing 4 in a row is just awful when you are fighting for your playoff lives. Not to mention losing 2 games in a a week and half at the buzzer. Injuries definitely hurt, if we still had Bosh i dont think for a second we would be on the outside looking in. We would be more along the 5-6 seed right now. But it was the cards that were dealt. Riley needs to do what he can to keep Whiteside and dragic, build around them. Replace Spo and find a successor to Wade in the draft.

Because all it takes is watching the games and his deameanor during games to know this. I need not be in the huddles or locker-room - any reasonable person would see and know the coaches have done all they could , but bad luck has stung this team at times, and more times than not, the team has just not executed as needed

In other news, Deng to have an MRI with a possible season ender as well as Beasley - so there go two other quality players down for the Heat

Well, all it takes is watching the games and his demeanor to know that the same applies to our shitty execution, play calling, and 4th qtr collapses.

Like I said, I'm not laying all the blame on his shoulders, but IMO he has failed to be creative/good enough to be successful this season without having James to bail him out.

Heat could be down to eight healthy players Tuesday which is the NBA minimum for the regular season. The playoff minimum is nine

Heat D-League team opens playoffs Wednesday, so would be interesting to see if they would use a call-up if granted injury roster exception.

No one inside Heat organization has said absolutely anything about tanking. It’s just the accumulation of the latest realities adding up
