"Breaking" a major story from the perspective of one person, only to go back multiple times to edit MAJOR details and not make them public until being called out like crazy is wildly unprofessional. Unless posting "breaking news" on his Facebook page constitutes a job, he should be ruined after this.New to modern media are you?
There is no chance he doesn't get a job again after this unless there is some sort of proof he intentionally fabricated something, which I seriously doubt happened.
These guys make their bread and butter off 'scoops' anymore. It's about contacts. Lots and lots of contacts willing to dish out info on the down low to you before others. When you have that you make a fortune. There really aren't media outlets in the country anymore that care deeply about the integrity of what they report, just that it's out by them before anyone else. The push to be first by default means you can't spend a lot of extra diligence making sure it's absolutely correct. Being first is ALL that matters.
