Bo had a bad game no doubt, it was a regression from his recent good play and there is no way around those facts. However, Broncos still won and he made some really good throws to get there there all with virtually no running game against one of the worst run defenses in the league. There was still some good with the bad.

No doubt Bo still needs to improve to be a true franchise guy, but he is showing all the signs it will happen, but there will be bumps along the road. Heck Mahomes isn't exactly lighting it up this year and he is an all time great.

Well if he is playing inconsistently and making lousy errors we as fans should point it out. That a problem and being that it is the 14th game, he isn't really considered a rookie anymore.

That score wasn't indicative of a great QB play. We all know it too. That game was very much in doubt and Nix played like utter crap in the first half.
QB’s have bad games, even bad stretches, even veteran QB’s.

Goff just recently had a 5 INT game after having thrown only 4 INT’s the entire season up to that point, yet the team still won the game.

Win pretty, win ugly, the W still counts the same.

And 14 games doesn’t make a QB a veteran. He is still a rookie until next season starts.

Yes

and if you think a rookie QB isn't going to have a bad game after looking previously good you haven't watched enough NFL in your lifetime.

It is a given.

Nevertheless still deserves criticism when he plays like crap. If you don't think so then what can I say? Is bring critical of Bo Nix offends people's delicate little sensibilities, so sorry.

Critical is fine. I think it is more the tone of what you have said within this thread. There is just so little wiggle room from the way it sounds in how you view QB's. I get there is urgency because he is on the rookie contract, but there has to be understanding of the reality that a rookie QB is going to have some rookie looking games. The question all season has been with Nix is has he proven he is the guy moving forward and at this point I think the answer is a resounding yes. Bad game happened but even within the bad game there were still some really good moments. Which is great to see that he didn't let the 3 INT's completely destroy him.

What tone? What are you talking about? He is very inconsistent and it's concerning and 14 games as a starter, he technically not a rookie.

That tone? It's a fact. Would be great if he turns into Elway or Manning. I'd rather be pleasantly surprised rather than bitterly disappointed.

Aren't we somewhat used to that?

If 14-games doesn't qualify him as a rookie then what does? He hasn't played an entire NFL season and hasn't had a 2nd offseason to really break down everything and work on things that need to be improved. That to me is the big thing if you want to see him become more consistent is just being able to sit down and do nothing but break down film for a couple of months to see what teams are trying to do against him and how he can better attack those spots.

I would add that right now Payton is putting a ton on Nix's plate. He is 5th in attempts this season and that is not good for a rookie. The Broncos have almost no run game to speak of at this time so he is being put in a lot of bad situations that he has done decent overcoming most of the time.

I agree. The offseason is part of his rookie season and where he will improve the most during his 1 full year in the NFL.

Definition of rookie:

a member of an athletic team in his or her first full season in that sport.

He's a rookie until April 25 2025.

Disagree. Remove him from Rookie of the year voting please.

I have no problem with fans criticizing a player's performance on the field. It's what fans do. We can each only speak for ourselves and everyone sets their own bar. My perspective is that we've more than likely found our QB for the short and long term. He's made plenty of mistakes in his rookie year and he'll continue to make mistakes as a veteran.

HOWEVER, I've seen something in Nix that we haven't seen in a long time. Maturity - he's a student of the game and has been using his vast college experience to his advantage. Coach-able - Sean Payton and the staff absolutely gush about him when asked. Fire - he's shown his competitive spirit many times during a game or even a press conference. Bo wants to win. Calmness - most of the offensive players have commented about his calm demeanor in the huddle, regardless of the circumstances. NFL arm - he's shown that he can make any of the throws that are necessary to be successful in the NFL. Like-ability - seems pretty rare that a team would vote a rookie to be a captain but in this case, they've shown their respect for our new quarterback. Athleticism - Bo is sneaky fast and extends plays with his legs. He can throw on the run, he's aware of the 1st down marker and he knows when to slide. Winner - for the first time in forever, we have a QB that has shown he can put the team on his shoulders and win us a game in the fourth quarter. We haven't had that for quite some time.

I strongly believe that Bo Nix will be successful as the Broncos QB for many years to come.

It's entirely possible to be very excited about what we see in Nix while acknowledging he has room to improve. The inconsistencies are not concerning, they are part of a growth process. Nix has taken this franchise further in 14 games than any other QB post-Manning. And it's definitely true that he's benefitted from a stout defense, but when you look at his production strictly on offense, it's important to remember first that he's doing way better than any QB we've seen around here in almost a decade, and second that he's doing it without a full deck. We have no ground game to speak of and we don't have any credible TEs either. We have Sutton and some decent potential aside from him in the WR position group, but without a credible ground game or TE group, Nix hasn't had the luxury of a complete arsenal. So what he's accomplished is pretty exciting.

So to me the inconsistencies are not concerning, they're somewhat expected.

And he's a rookie. He wasn't even in the league when the NFL's 2024 calendar year started...

A few things I like in regards to the future. His attitude, meaning a firey desire to win..and Sean Payton's competency as a coach. Yes, those things do make a difference. When I mentioned the Mack Jones rookie season and Daniel Jones, there are distinguishable differences..

It's frustrating for me when I see the first few weeks, then looking utterly dynamic. Scrambling, confidence, to then against the Chargers...the first half stats were so abysmal.

It's frustrating and while the score yesterday certainly looks great and wonderful. It's concerning how inept the offense was looking for MOST OF THAT GAME.

Of course. All of us were frustrated, since we've seen better. I think the general consensus is the team will have their ups and downs. All teams do. We all wish our team could be perfect every week. What many of us are saying is that the Broncos look to be trending in the right direction, even with a few stinkers along the way. By the way, the Broncos won yesterday. Sometimes it's heroics from your QB and sometimes it's just an ugly win by the defense or special teams that bails your QB out. I'm happy that we're sitting at 9-5 and on the cusp of a playoff birth. Baby steps but our purgatory window might be finally ending.

There's a difference between calling him out on boneheaded throws and calling him an asshole.

Like you as a rookie here, were calling you out for boneheaded posts, but giving you a chance to see if you can reign in the obvious negativity. Maybe its the alcohol, maybe its your style, but you're getting a chance to be a rookie.

Nix is a rookie all season, whether you like it or not.

i feel Nix is being coached hard by Paton and has Webb near by as a ying to paton’s yang

can’t believe how messsd up Chicago is with Caleb. should have kept Brown at OC to continue working directly with Caleb and put the ST coach in charge of the team.

i don’t understand why franchisees like Chicago can mess up the QB position year after year and GB can find a QB rather easily.

Payton said it’s not that hard to find a QB but not everyone can do it. he’s proving this to be true.

That name is familiar for sure. Welcome back. And I should apologize. I read into tone and tone is tough on a message board to get right. So I need to be better at taking things at face value.

I think for me it is the trying to look at the full picture of what we have seen from Nix rather than going game by game. He had a bad game this past week but it wasn't all bad. So to me that is growth compared to earlier in the season like the first couple of weeks where he was a big part of why we were losing. This game even though it was bad he still threw for 3 TD's. Red Zone offense was good in this game. It was the only part of the offense that was working. But it is an important part to have working.

I think his attitude is great. Team certainly seems to gravitate. It's been a bit of a double edged sword. Right now the very encouraging sign is he seems to be unflappable and doesn't pout like an Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers has had that dubious reputation and most people don't know his entire career.

Anyway hopefully that confidence builds. These 3 games are big challenge. On the road on a short week against a team that was just badly embarrassed at home, and embarrassed the Broncos at Invesco.

The next week, on the road against perhaps the best playing passer in the NFL right now. I mean Jameis Winston and Jeudy had their way at Invesco. This will be on the road.

Then ending with KC obviously. It's a big probability that KC will be sitting their starters.

It's going to be a major challenge for Nix

I would agree. Huge moment for Nix to take a big step in his QB journey if he can close this season well. I don't expect the Bengals to have as much success compared to the Browns game in big part because most of the issues stemmed from bad communication and seems like the Broncos worked on that a lot during the bye week. Also Riley Moss should be back and now with KAD proving to be a capable player they have a bit more depth to rely on.

Thursday's game though to see how Nix responds after a really bad game is something I am really looking for to. Strong defense with the Chargers, but they do seem to be floundering a bit here to close out the season. They have given up on average over 25 points a game over their last 4. Yes they have the 40 point game so that hurts it but they also have the 13 points given up to the Falcons so kind of balances out to a defense that is struggling.
