Well I think a splinter league is actually the MBBRL scaling down and keeping the name while the new wave carries on with a SportsHoopla name and many less MBBRLers involved

and with this possibility now in the open I fear my name will be tarnished amongst the new wave and there maybe no coming back for ol Barilko as well

Well, not sure what to say about this.

I have greatly enjoyed playing with you guys over the years. The spirit of MBBRL being dual league is that teams will move up and down. The entire core will not be in the same league every year. I know this is not ideal, but it is the opportunity for movement along with the people that make this league special.

Again, Barilko, I ask you to consider that if not for the B league, neither of us would have ever found this group. While scaling down may keep the people you want together, it is not in the best interest of the league as it was created.

Feel bad for @Chef99 and @Trudem
Here they win tough-fought championships this season and the luster of such a well-deserved victory is clouded by controversy.

Can we throw you some kind of a victory parade? A parade of gif's maybe?

The MBBRL has been my favorie for some time. I find myself bragging to some of my other fantasy friends about how fun and competive this league has been. It seems odd as this group has become an important part of my life and I have only met one of you in person. I will take the same approach I do with most decisions- I will wait to see how this all shakes out, then select a path to follow. My fervent desire is that the league some how continues on in a format that allows for a group of freindly, competitve players to get back to the fun we have enjoyed for the past few years. This has been years in the making- it would be a shame to see it implode.

@Yellow Fuzzies - my respected FuzzyPower partner - the MBBRL is not going to go away totally, but is changing to a new guard. There are a number of guys that I still wish to bounce ideas off, get opinions, etc - it just may not be on this thread. Yet, like you, I will hold off my final decision until clarity prevails. ...
As Bar stated there may be some who wish to start a small separate league. Doesn't mean those guys can't do both if they want. I'm in a lot of leagues with friends that have nothing to do with this one - it would, perhaps, be one more with friends developed here. ...
You are one of my favorite people I met here, and my hope is that our friendship and collaboration will go on no matter what happens in the fallout regarding MBBRL. Besides, we came up one game short of our desire in dynasty - we have work to do !!!!

Should probably have PM'd this, but let's not make the same mistake talking about dissension (or defection) in the same manner that blew out of proportion the C league discussion.

From my perspective, it is a long way until next July or August when anything needs to be decided. A lot can happen between then and now.

Maybe I'm being overly optimistic? But a lot has happened in just the course of a week. Time could mend some of this.

Guise...................STOP! Take a breath and relax. Drink a beer. Drink some whiskey. Calm down. Chill out. This season hasn't even ended yet. If there is one league I like to talk about (well 2 counting tSuicide League) it's the MBBRL. Every single person I talk to about what we have here shows interest and will comment on how they wish they were in a league like this/these. Now I'm not one to put words in anybody's mouth, and if I come off wrong here TREFF I'm sorry, but we all have a lot of pride, and I'm assuming even if TREFF decided to come back, he might let his pride get in the way (which would be understandable). My point is, we all should chill a bit before we say something we can't or won't take back whether it be pride or some other reason. Last thing: TREFF if you read this I wish you would reconsider. I'm feeling like a lot of this is my fault..............

I can not and will not argue with that

It is just my fears are being realized as the expansion has allowed newer players who do not respect or honour or maybe do not understand the basic premise of the way the MBBRL is and should be played

I am not laying blame here it isn't their or anyone's fault and I do not wish to critique their open insistence of potential change

It is just that I feel(and I'm certain I am not alone) that the league is what it is and even though we all respect diplomacy we do not want change in the league and we certainly do not want the constant insistence of change

In my effort to answer the scaling back or breakaway
It really isn't what I want it is just something that was raised as a possibility and once raised and made available for public viewing I too chimed in noting that it could come to this

It is no secret that I love the MBBRL. and I'm only elder in age and not an elder as pertaining to its origins
I too love the A and B aspect but as proven by the current fallout and questions that have arisen I saw the cracks in B play out this year and for me we need fix our 24 period

Yes I did come from B and without it I still would be proving worth to join a Great 12 team league
So yes I'm thankful there was a B for me to enter the wonderful MBBRL

Since the day I joined I respected and followed the criteria and not once did I request or demand change and made every effort to play by the established rules

Again some of the newest players did not follow the exact same path and this is exactly what I believe has led to our current situation

If players of that ilk can not see that therein lies our problem

I guess I should say I'm still here but I too should step back and see where this all will settle

Yet with that said if too many of us do the same
Where are we headed anyhow?

Meanwhile back in Canada ........

Quintuple winner I speak the same to my friends
My lotto dream is to get a bunch of us to the same draft table
To see if you would bring a tennis hat or racquet
If Bandit is bigger than his Left handed dad
If Foot really is 8 feet tall
If Treff is really as good looking as his avatar and bring him a puck
If Sam is really as special as his track suit or is he really Anna
To bring Joe a Beaver tale and assure him he is so much more than average
To kneel at the Feet of the mighty Tlance
To demand Chef and Harold work a deal in front of us with Steeler in all his pride broker the deal
Too sing Oh Canada with TKO
To Shake a Cheesey hand and congratulate him on winning a very tough Championship

I think the main issue here is lack of communication. People who have been in the league for awhile expect certain things and new additions to the league don't always know what those are. I don't think it is a lack of respect driving anybody's actions. I think quite the opposite.

Everyone has their own ideas on what is best for the MBBRL. My hope is that with time cooler heads will prevail.

There is one glaring need that I see that has come from all of this. We need a written league constitution with specific language laying out the expectations for all members. While I think the 3 rules are all well intentioned, we need to get a little more specific. Failure to adhere to league rules should result in an automatic oblivion vote (even for an A leaguer).

Until specifics are in place (and I don't mind helping to write them) I think we will continue to have issues in the future. If oblivion were a possibility for any rule breaker, I think it would be treated more seriously.

I would much prefer a chicken shawarma with all the fixings.

With all the hockey games over the years, I think I could join in- but it would have to be in English.

As long as you dress in an Avs sweater and not some transported Nordique sweater or I may have to find a rather strange and unique use of a tennis racquet

that's a deal
I would probably just wear one of my DU Pioneer Jerseys instead.
I still prefer the college game over pro.

i would like to nominate the following 4 people to serve as our next commissioner. Since Wil and Treff each served 3 years, perhaps it is appropriate to make this a 3 season commitment.

@averagejoe @leftypower @Sam Sportboy @Yellow Fuzzies

I think it would be great if one our original members who have been in all 6 years were willing to take on the role. You guys have the most experience and perspective to lead the group and get us moving back in the right direction.

This league is not broken, we just need to fix a couple minor flaws before we move forward.

I nominate @leftypower

Makes sense. It's actually probably maybe might be on his bucket list.
