Great reply. Goodell has the balls to state the NFL takes domestic abuse seriously while taking this stance. No doubt if Rice were not a star his punishment would be much worse. Goodell is a flat out liar.

You know, Im fine with them throwing the flag. Because yes he did hit Smiths helmet with his own. But suspension is BS, you can see Meriweather was aiming for the strike zone and Smith ducked into the hit. They are asking guys to tackle with their arms wide open and their head back for fear of a helmet to helmet hit. Now what happens if Smith lowers his shoulder and comes in under Meriweathers chin as he is trying to tackle him?? Aside from the defender getting trucked I mean.

The past doesn't negate the responsibility to review the current without prejudice. If a hit is clean, it is clean. The past shouldn't change that, IMO.

Meh. All I know, is he is the ONLY Bears player that I've never been able to root for.

He has been fined 5 times, which I consider to be amazing, cuz I can think of 5 times easy, in just the one season with the Bears.

I get it. But I have seen changes and have come around on BM.

He has made changes. And being 'branded' (pardon the lame pun) is unfortunately what he faces right now, no matter the truth about this hit.
