Well it has to be a team that is both willing to pay that and a team that Melo is willing to play for.
Problem is I really don't know of any team that wants Melo now, especially at any price he is going to be asking for and expecting. His job now in the NBA is a role player off the bench.

The man is delusional and still thinks he's an elite player. At this point he can be instant offense off the bench with the 2nd team but his overly inflated ego won't allow that.

I wouldn’t want him anymore then, shit barely for a bench role. He is slow, very streaky and shit defender

He was a great college ball player but...I don't know how to finish that sentence.

Not that he's been a terrible pro, it's just that he's not the ONE guy to build a team around, and every team he has played on seems to under achieve. And yet, and yet, everywhere he goes, he demands to be "the man;" can't fathom being a role player.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he eventually just goes to China and averages 35 a game.

He is still a HOFr lol. A great scorer in his best years. Just somewhat inefficient overall and never could take his team over the hump. Doesn’t mean he was an average player nc he was far better than an average player, he was great just not a two way player. There are a bunch of HOF’rs that were great offensively but not two-way players and couldn’t lead their teams to ships being that number 1 guy

He's this generation's Charles Barkley, minus the playoff appearances

Is anyone really shocked? His MO from day one has been "me me me". Which to a point is fine, but then do not whine about wanting to win a championship. He is the type of player who would have to accept a role and not be the alpha for this to happen as he cannot carry a team.

Apparently he isn't all that interested in a title then

Melo is a ball needy 3 on a team with a ball needy 1....that was never a good fit. He's an interesting fit altogether because imo he's not a great spot up shooter for the pick and pop, or off the ball cut/pick. He needs the ball in his hands to score but he's not great off the dribble to the basket to finish.

Has an "almost KD like" game without the range and driving ability...and Def.

He's a great player and his numbers will get him into the Hall of Fame. However, he isn't a team player and he refuses to accept anything but a max deal or a smaller role.

The smart move would be for him to opt out and come off the bench for a contending team or even re-sign with OKC for less and come off the bench.

But, as @tlance pointed out, every time he's had a choice between money and improving the team, he has chosen money. I think he will choose money again, opt in and steal $28 million from OKC.

He's always been over rated. His teams are better without him than they are with. Selfish on the offense and non existent on the defense.

He doesn't have to be though.

He's trying to be a Kevin Durant instead of trying to take a Andre Iguodala role.

At this time, yes, but he's been a liability for teams his whole career.

He needs to accept that the starting job is not his anymore. Averaging over 32 minutes a game should come with more than 1 assist per game. Even on accident it should. He turns the ball over the same amount.

Melo is a career team cancer. Hes shown it for a decade. Better off in the D-League or in China.

What amazes me is that Thunder front office put THREE career team cancers on one team. WTF were they thinking?

These guys were losers on their own. Bring them together and you have 3 career losers. What kind of mental incompetence must one person have to think Westbrick, Melo, George would EVER work out?

You could tell from Day 1 it was going to be a fucking FAILURE of an experiment

Also, it is the basketball Hall of Fame. NCAA MVP and National Championship -- and 3 Olympic Gold Medals.

Except Andre is primarily there for defense. He needs to be a scorer leading the second unit. Won't happen. As others have said, he's just a talented guy who's not a winner.
