Fun player. Got to play every position but catcher and pitcher.

Didn't he end up an outfielder?

The game changed with Ripken/Nomar/Jeter/Arod.

Used to be, you didn't need your SS to hit, just field everything hit at him. Those guys changed all that.

Well, Ernie Banks began his career as a shortstop and he could blast the HRs on a regular basis. Another was Vernon Stephens a power hitter from the 1940s. And going back to the 60s, Rico Petrocelli of the Red Sox had some power (blasted 40 HRs in 1969).

I'm not sure who you would mean by mediocre.

Jeff Burroughs? He was always pretty good, just mired in obscurity by playing on bad teams.
Well, he did get an MVP award in 1974. I remember when he was a minor leaguer with the Denver Bears.

Brent Lilibridge, Pablo Ozuna, Willie Harris...

Just White Sox utility guys that I thought were cool and each had some stretches as part time players where they would go off each of the two days per week they played. Pablo Ozuna was the king of mastering the part time role and turning into a potato both time the White Sox tried to play him everyday.
