Nah, but it is endlessly irritating that in 1978 - 25-3 1.74 ERA, and winning the 1 game playoff, is not the MVP

Contrasted with 1986, Clemens goes 24-4 2.48 ERA and is the MVP

Rice and Mattingly had crazy similar numbers in the respective years, more HR for Rice, higher BA for Mattingly. Rice edges out Gid, but Mattingly is the runner up to Clemens.

How does that work?
Not even one you weren't alive for?

As for the difference between 1986/1978, it's a good comp. I think they got '78 wrong and '86 right. I'd rather that than both wrong

I have an eternal natural affinity for utility guys... Guys who can play a bunch of different positions and pitch-in anywhere in the lineup - all without much fanfare. Craig Counsell is on that list. Recently, I loved having Hernan Perez in Milwaukee. Right now it's Eric Sogard.

growing up as a Royals fan, i always liked UL Washington. I think it was because he usually had a toothpick in his mouth while he played. i thought it was funny.

They also got '85 wrong, but you didn't hear it from me.

Mickey Tettleton because of weird batting stances that were different when batting left or right. He may have been a bit better than mediocre.

I always liked Lane Adams. He was a scrub, but it seemed like every time he got a hit, it was a big one. Never was gonna amount to much, but I liked having him come off the bench
my favorite catcher of all time is tony pena.

such a unique catching style

Funny I was going to say another Mickey. Mick the quick. I thought he was fun to watch at the plate.

A lot of Tigers fans would say Doug Fister. Only played 3 seasons there but his trade was the beginning of the end
