On Wednesday Donovan McNabb spoke on Jay's new contract, give it a look/listen...What's your opinion on this?

Coming from the guy that lost his lunch on the field in his ONE SB appearance after 4 straight NFC Championship games during a period when the NFC was pure shit...well, I'll leave it at that.

I tend to agree... and for this to come out now, after how many months after the contract was signed? Makes me think that he's just been waiting to have an outlet to voice this.
I loved how the Bears were very quick to resign Jay when they did- they didn't let any second guessing and questions of will they/won't they get out.

I'm sure this was discussed ad nauseam at the time- but it's really just a 3 year deal.

Cutler will make $54 million over the next three years, with a rolling guarantee that starts at $17.5 million upon signing, increases to $38 million on March 14, 2014, moves to $48 million in March 2015, and caps out at $54 million in March 2016.
The deal contains no signing bonus, creating a pay-as-you-go series of cap charges for the Bears, based only on his base salaries.
In 2014, Cutler will earn a base salary of $22.5 million. In 2015, the base salary is $15.5 million. In 2016, it increases to $16 million.
After 2016, the deal becomes a year-to-year, no-cap-hit proposition.

I don't feel like looking it up at the moment, but I'm pretty sure- they converted some of that to bonus money to free up cap space for Jared Allen, I think. So this years salary is lower by- I think it was $10M.

Who would the Bears have gotten instead?

I'm excited for what Jay can do in this offense in a second year under Trestman- and remember too that Jeffery didn't really break out until Jay was injured. It really could be something special.

I also am excited to see what Jay can do now that he has a real system and a second year in it, but I also think we overpaid, and we had little other options at the time. His past work did not add up to his current pay, but he can still earn that now. He has everything he needs now. I think any halfway decent QB could run this system and excel with all the weapons we now have (see McNown). OK kill me but I'm gonna say it anyway. I would have drafted Johny football and dropped Cutler.

If he gets hurt again(which I believe he will)...............we ovcer paid.

He has not done a damn thing for us to believe he deserves extra money.

Noon- I completely understand what you're saying. And future hindsite will bring the question: Did we overpay? into light.
Playoffs/superbowls/probowls= did not overpay
Losses/interceptions= overpaid

Injuries: I'm in the camp that if you have a player with a major injury that his been an issue for longer then one stint on the Injury List: Goes down for the same thing- Same knee, same elbow, whatever. That's a bad investment. I would not pay that guy.
But Jay's injury history has been varied. Broken thumb, groin, ankle, knee, concussions. None of those things have been repeated. It's not been reported that he's had a problem with the same thing over and over...if it had been then I can see the "injury prone" argument.
Call it bad luck, overactive? or whatever. I hope the rebuilt OLine, and more comfortable in offense (quicker decisions) can limit the injuries.

Prediction: He will be another RG3. Exciting plays+ bonehead plays+ injuries =ing a middling career that ends/fizzles out within 3-5 years.
