So the question is who in a rebuild do you want to try and be a player that may, that is not a certainty, impact us for the future at 2nd baseman at this point in time? Santana? IKF? 32 year old Forsythe? Or do you hang your hat on Odor for now?Odor has almost never had to rotate out or be benched for more than a game at a time, as far back as I can remember. If he is in a slump he gets to play his way out if it even if that takes 6 to 8 weeks. If he is hot then he is too hot to sit. He gets his own set of rules and guidelines.
His disappointing hitting sometimes reminds me of Blalock, except Hank was never afforded the opportunity to stay in the lineup like Odor has been.
He is probably getting hot again, but we have been through that part of his cycle before. Eventually, the wretched, long slump will come back around too, and he will once again be afforded the opportunity to work his way out of it. I don't think I have ever seem anything like it with the Rangers.
Odor should be sent down, not as punitive, but serious hitting instructions. So the question is who in a rebuild do you want to try and be a player that may, that is not a certainty, impact us for the future at 2nd baseman at this point in time? Over the last couple of years there have been times where he should have been sent down or benched. To me, it is bigger than what should be done with him currently. I don't like the idea of a future big season getting derailed in part, due to him being in another of his deep slumps at the wrong time. In a close playoff series, him hitting .125 could be the difference maker. Him hitting .140 for two months could be the difference in a tight division race as well.So the question is who in a rebuild do you want to try and be a player that may, that is not a certainty, impact us for the future at 2nd baseman at this point in time? It I was the GM, I would hope he is about to go on one of his 8 week hot streaks. If he does, I would try my hardest to deal him in July while he is hot and appears once more to have turned a corner.

Yes and followed with another by Pence. That was an awesome AB by Calhoun.
Yeah he got the rookie treatment....been a pretty generous zone for the pitcherCalhoun has a great eye but the ump does not.
Along as JD realizes that this is the true Odor and not the one on the 8 week hitting streak. Just don’t trust JD on this to pull this string.Over the last couple of years there have been times where he should have been sent down or benched. I agree Darryl. Hard to pull the string on a $50 mil investmentAlong as JD realizes that this is the true Odor and not the one on the 8 week hitting streak. Just don’t trust JD on this to pull this string.
