Why dont you like babip gandy? I feel like it can give a pretty accurate assessment on a hitter.
(Forewarning: I'm not a "cap-ologist", nor am I 100% about the numbers im about to give, please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong)
Another thing to think about for those happy with Stafford as a "game manager", we are built to be an offensive team. We don't have anyone on defense scheduled to make a lot of money next year, yet we won't be able to resign our best player on that side of the ball.
Stafford($18), Calvin(24), Tate(6), Pettigrew(4), Bush(4), and Bell(3) have $59 mil of our cap space eaten up for next year, from just QB/RB/TE/WR. How are we going to pay Levy? Slay? Anyone who performs on defense? Our future hinges on Stafford being elite, not a game manager.
So, wait a minute here...
Where does it say that if a WR hauls off and takes a 10 yard pass and turns it into a 80 yard TD, that the QB no longer gets credit? How does that work? That would suggest that none of the current QBs are no good because their players made a play togain yards after the catch. This is football man. Why are you setting different standars for Stafford?
For those questioning Stafford's accuracy, here's a little snippet from an article I was just reading:
... Pro Football Focus ranks Stafford ninth in the NFL for accuracy, a figure that removes drops and throwaways from the equation. They've recorded 75.9 percent of his throws as catchable, up nearly four points from last year...

I'd like an explanation on that stat. I'm sure that probably removes throws where Stafford unnessecarily rockets a ball to a wide open guy 5 yards away. Like that missed pass to Fuller against the Saints, where it was a rocket behind a wide open Fuller, did they remove that one because it hit his hands, even though he would have had to make a twisting acrobatic almost impossible catch?
I don't have any problem with Stafford's accuracy, actually. Its his touch, or that when he is slightly inaccurate the ball is thrown so hard its hard for the receiver to make the catch.
I mean when are we going to take Stafford into account for the drops? We've been near the top of the league every year, and while I would dismiss that too, its kind of weird even Megatron has had a high number of drops, and Tate, who with another team was the best catcher, is even shown a problem with drops.
Can someone do some research on drop % of players with and without Stafford for comparison?
This is one of those things where Stafford's weapons are getting way too much credit. I've never in my life heard any player in any sports say that they can't catch a ball from a particular player.
22,
Do you think you could catch a Stafford pass?
Smitty, what if Stafford made you jump to catch a pass? Would you ask him to throw it lower next time?
Would you tell Peyton Manning he sucks because a WR had to jump for one of his passes?
LMAOOOOOOOOO
When I watch a Lions game and I yell "WHAT THE FUCK KIND OF FUCKING THROW WAS THAT" fewer than 4 times in a game I'll buy into the accuracy stuff.
Do you guys watch any other teams play? I see that kind of stuff very often. You guys speak as if Stafford is doing things that no other QB ever does. Being "way off" happens at times. I wonder how in the hell he even made it in the league if he causes drop passes, is always way off and holds on to the ball too long. LMAO
Like I said, I've used that before in defense of Stafford about leading the league in dropped passes, but you gotta admit it's weird that Golden Tate was heralded as the most sure handed WR in the NFL, and we've seen a few uncharacteristic drops already.
I don't say this as insulting, but have you played football? Sure, its on the pass catcher to maintain concentration throughout a catch, but you are dead wrong if you think ball velocity has nothing to do with catch difficulty, especially when your running at full speed and have to adjust to ball accuracy.
I was simply questioning if anyone had any evidence that maybe showed a player having a higher drop % with Stafford than without Stafford. I don't think that would be too hard to research, but not any easy task while I'm at work and on a phone lol.
