that's another 1 of the many reasons why the Lions ownership is CRAP.

Stafford did absolutely NOTHING to deserve that fat contract they gave him.

his accuracy and decision making have not progressed at all, he is STILL making the same mistakes he did his 1st year in the league.

Well, he didn't do "nothing". He is the best qb prospect this franchise has seen in 2 decades. In order to build some pieces around the core, the front office had to restructure his contract, along with a few others. Having that bullshit pay scale for rookies didn't help matters either. Having to pay all that money to unproven players is asinine. Just sucks it took them til we didn't have a top pick to change it.

He may not be one of the top 5 qbs in the league, but I'll take my chances with him improving(possibly with a new regime) over some of the other NFL starting qbs.

Every time I watch a Lions game he throws an interception with that silly side arm throw. What is he doing there? If I were a Lions fan I would not stop yelling at the TV every time I see him do it, which is quite often.

This has been my previous two Sept-Dec's. Shits getting more than old.

tSEC record of sending any QB not with the last name of Manning to NFL and them ending up true franchise starters is abysmal over the past 10+ years. tSEC is great with the lineman, RBs, etc..., but most of their QBs are trained to be glorified game managers and that's a recipe for being overpaid clipboard holders in the pros.

hold up where did Matt Flynn go to school ?

I've been saying that for quite a while now.

.

yep, stats in football don't work quite as well as they do in baseball, regardless of how hard websites and media outlets are trying.

they can be very misleading based upon schemes, the overall team strength, individual player responsibilities, etc.

for example, reggie bush has a higher per carry average this season than adrian peterson. does anyone in their right mind actually believe bush is a better RB than peterson? No, Obviously we know that Bush is benefitting from running against defenses every week that are mainly defending the lions passing attack while peterson consistently faces 8 in the box. but, if you just looked at the stats, you might think peterson is not that great.

It's the fucking Lions people! Joe Montana, Drew Brees, John Elway would have become journeymen types if they would have started their career in Detroit.

It's like a black fucking hole that sucks the talent out of guys!

Until this sorry organization gets a real front office nothing will change! From Joe Schmitt to Matt Millen and now his protege Mayhew this organization has no clue how to win.

So maybe Stafford is a great QB in the making as long as Detroit stays in the stone age of management he will be nothing more than a more recognizable Stoney Case!

I won't argue that the number should be higher, but he was drafted to a team that was 0-16. I don't care how talented the QB is, a team that devoid of talent won't beat a lot of good teams. Lions did have a 10-6 record under Stafford, not a lot of winning teams that year, but he didn't set the schedule.

I think in the future that number will even out as the Lions, while not contenders yet, are an actual NFL caliber team now. I could be wrong on that.

That's no excuse. Luck was drafted on a team with nearly as bad a record, but you don't see Luck losing every game against a winning team.

Reggie bush is now saying that he feels the lions are undisciplined and that's why they are underachieving. When a free agent player can figure out the problem in a short amount of time, why can't the lions front office?

Lucks team was in the playoffs the year before that intentionally bombed season with a lot of that core returning. The Lions 0-16 team was completely turned over. It was closer to that of an expansion team. Then factor in what appears to be inadequate coaching.

One of these things is not like the other.

Stafford has been slumping the last 6 games. I'd never trade him for Palmer who has had an entire career of mediocrity.

Reggie has played at a championship level before. (As a professional of sorts). Lions FO, Owner, Coaching staff, QB..... Well....yeah.

I'd give up Staff for Luck in a heartbeat. But the Colts weren't nearly as bad as their record and everyone knew it. The same can't be said of those 0-16 Lions.

Just released Stafford has been diagnosed with a tumor and upon removal should be better than ever before. The problem is the removing the Tumor! A Schwartz / Mayhew Tumor can only be removed by the Ford family and going on prior history it seems unlikely this operation will occur before 2015!

It wasnt the team that was bad , it was Curtis Painter , he was he awful. His passes hit the turf more than the recievers

It wasnt even the same team.

70% of the roster, the entire front office and the coaching staff was turned over the year that Luck took over. It was essentially an expansion team in 2012, yet they won.

Indy's defense last year gave up about 24 ppg: 2012 NFL Team Total Stats - National Football League - ESPN

Whereas Detroit's 2008 defense gave up about 32 PPG:

Granted, I still think that Luck had a better rookie year than Stafford; but Luck's rookie win/loss record would surely be A LOT worse if his team's 2012 defense were as bad as the 2008 Lions.
