an 8 - 4 conference champ probably wouldn't get selected over the other conference champs.
What if there were two?
We have had years when it was possible. It didn't happen but it could

So if you take ND out that year, do you put the actual best team in the B1G back in happened to be ineligible and who wouldn't have had any losses assuming they win their CCG.
11-1 Florida
Dantonio is just trying to keep a door open when Nebraska wins in east lansing in ten days.

In 2012 Oregon finished #2 after clubbing big12 champ in Bowl.
Stanford finished 7 after beating Wisky in Rose.
In 2011 Oregon finished 4 after winning Rose over Wisky
Stanford finished 7 after owing to Oky State.
Just to show where pollsters heads were.

Quick scenario: Say the 8-5 Wisconsin team and the 11-2 Va Tech team(who lost to JMU) had happened in the same year. Neither of them deserve to be included. And in this day and age of unbalanced schedules it likely to happen that a 3 loss division champ beats a 0/1 loss division in the CCG.
Anyone else notice the only fans dead set on this concept are the ones coming out of the Big 10 Nation? It is stupid that we are not using the computers to make this decision.... PERIOD. Everyone complained when it came to the LSU/Bama rematch but it wasn't the computers who said," These two teams deserve to play." That was the human element. So now we are completely over any type of unbiased view point that is based on pure numbers and we are going back to the eye test. There is no perfect system, and the system we have in place is WORSE than the BCS. Oh yes it is a playoff system, but wait till it comes down to teams with equal record and one of the AD's has a team in the running. Who do you think will get in? This is a scam. It should be a 9 team playoff. Conference champion from each power 5 conference, 2 wildcards, and a play in game between 2 mid majors.
That's all well and good, but the Play-Off teams would have been selected BEFORE bowl games.
Too bad. Oregon is left out and deservedly so.
Then you select the most deserving of the two.
I agree too. Dantonio is exactly right.
The Playoff should be the SEC Champ, PAC 12 Champ, Big 12 Champ and Florida State.
You're right Bama was 12-1. Simple typo. But even with that said you would take an 11-2 FSU over an 11-1 Florida team when the Florida team just beat their ass one week prior to the CCG's? You don't see anything wrong with that?
And I wasn't taking ND out of that year. But speaking more in terms of generalities. How often will ND realistically go 12-0? Not very often and that will be what it takes for them to get a seat at the table IMO.
You are right. I missed the head-to-head.
In that case I take Stanford as a conference champ and the potential for a rematch with Notre Dame.
I only hope they avoid rematches as much as possible.
Over a one loss non conf champ?
You are high
Ya. That is what it will be.
b1g is terrible. Zero shot this season
Crazier things have happened.
Pac 10 champ could have 3 losses by the time its all said and done.
Duh. Of course they would have. And before bowl games. Oregon was also ranked higher.
I am just telling you, ask Oky State if it matters who you lose to. Losing to a scrub UW wouldn't have done Stanford any favors
Oregon lost to Stanford, by 3 in ot lone loss.
