If he's truly hurt, then he's smart not to throw. However, the problem for him is that there were already questions about his arm and not throwing isn't going to change that.

Its unfortunate that you wont be able to watch Mariota throw at the combine from the 26" flat screen above the drink dispenser at Taco Bell.

How could such a great idol of yours let you down like that?

Tampering is frowned upon in the NFL and the Eagles are a non factor because they are drafting too late in the first round.

Tampering might be frowned upon, unless of course you are tampering with the football.

It's something else how much this guy's star has faded. Not throwing is a very bad sign.

His star hasn't faded. We see this pretty much every year when a top QB prospect enters the NFL draft.

Seems like a lot of you are pounding on Mariota. Who is better this year going into the draft?

As far as being NFL ready talent wise and being familiar with that type of system, Winston.

There are no elite QB's in this years NFL draft. Very slim pickings.

I really like Winston; especially his on field leadership; however, not sure the pros appreciate his immaturity issues. That said, I like Mariota's size and speed. To me it's a coin toss as to which one will be the most effective as a pro.

The main knock on Mariota for me is his ability to anticipate the throw and hit tight windows, which will be a necessity in the NFL. You can see where it was an issue by looking at his redzone numbers when the field shrinks, if I'm not mistaken, his completion percentage wasn't much over 40% or so in those situations. When he gets to the NFL, the whole damn field can seem that small considering the experience and talent on the defensive side that he'll be facing. The kid is super athletic, thrived in Oregon's system and has a great head on his shoulders so it wouldn't shock me to see him succeed, I just feel Winston is more ready right now (aside from the maturity issues you mentioned).

Agreed; Mariota to be a great pro, will have to have better accuracy throwing. That said, the Oregon system lends itself for their quarterbacks to leave the pocket and throw on the run so accuracy suffers. There will definitely be a learning curve for Mariota to stay in the pocket and deliver the ball with better timing. We will know next year if he has it. I agree Winston is more of a pocket passer and I really like his size which should be able to withstand the pounding a quarterback is expected to take. I'm not convinced Winston has great accuracy either. The pro game is so much faster and quarterbacks have to be able to read defenses quickly and make proper decisions. I think we all knew Andrew Luck was going to be a great NFL quarterback...I don't think either of these guys will be that impressive so taking either as the 1st pick might be problematic.

Chip Kelly doing work! Mariota won't throw at combine due to an injury. Eagles prepping to snag Mariota. Genius work by Chip.

probably because he's having flashbacks and nightmares of Bosa coming through the line and flattening him like a pancake....... :suds:

If Chip was really trying to set everyone up, wouldn't he have Mariota go to the combine and throw awful on purpose so he falls in the draft????

Maybe a sardine fish would take that bait.

OD, the problem is he's telling the truth. If Jameis is the closest thing we have to an elite college football QB, Mariota ain't even close.

You need to adjust your expectations or you're going to be very disappointed at the next level.
