Per the Associated Press, the Mariners are sending $4.5 million to the Braves on August 1 as part of this trade package.

And Dovish said he thinks Gilbert and Cal will be gone in next couple years as well. So saving money for guys needing new deals in 2026 and such was another BS move. He will move most if not all guys needing extension in next few years.

And yes I think he will spend some of that money to get back around $140M. But will it make us better?

And you Dipoto bashers need to stop! What proof is there that he is clueless? Oh ya, the last 7 years.

And to repeat, we are not a team that has to cut payroll to add payroll. We are the number 1 profitable team in baseball. I don't care if we sign Ohtani and trade for Soto, this move did not have to happen for any baseball reason. I a not even mad any of those guys got traded. But when we had chances to add All-Star like veterans the last couple years by trading Kelenic, that is the burn.

Reading between the lines on all these articles I think I figured it out. Turns out Ohtani is a big fan of water coolers. In order to sign with us he insisted M's trade Kelenic after his water cooler incident. Now that Kelenic is gone, Ohtani is prepared to sign with us. It will be Ohtani, Julio, and 7 utility players. Fans will come out in droves to see Ohtani and Julio, Mariners will bank all the money, and I will be long dead before we sniff the playoffs.
