I mentioned this earlier. Signing Sasaki does not come out of the payroll numbers they set for themselves. It comes from the international money they already have allocated to them for them. Spending on Sasaki has zero effect on free agency. That is the bonus kicker with him. I say sign him no matter what they do with Castillo or anyone else. Of course they would have to eliminate a SP or go to a 6 man which I dislike.I obviously would prefer Sasaki over Hancock/Evans/Garcia. But what I’m saying is I don’t get the thinking of if they trade Castillo to save money then that should also be followed up with signing Sasaki and not spending it on a free agent. I guess I think signing a FA bat is a lot more important.
I really am not a Bohm fan. I think he is better than Rojas was. Hell, I might be too. In one respect, if they got say Hoerner for 2B and signed Walker for 1B then Mayo would be fine. I mean no worse than the famous Rojas/Urias combo of 2024. But adding Mayo and no other true MLB talent would be scary as heck. Probably worse than last year's lineup.I would prefer the Mariners to get MLB talent as well. But to me, if they trade a valuable asset (any of the pitchers) then it needs to be for a valuable asset. Mayo obviously hasn’t proven anything but Bohm thus far is Kelenic where he has had 2 great months then is nothing. Won’t pretend to know anything other than stats on him but there is a reason Philly chose to basically ice him in the playoffs. And a Bohm is basically the only guy out there besides Bregman. I like Hoerner too but 3B is much more of a need. Maybe somehow they could get Hoerner, get Bohm and trade JP and have Young/Rivas play SS.
I am coming around to this idea but only for the reason that we both know to be true and that he is on a clock to leave. Sell high is a good motto.I’m not sure on who is better between Sasaki and Gilbert. But one thing we do know is that Gilbert is going to get traded before he becomes a FA and his value is higher the cheaper he is. Mayo and Cowser are a gamble for sure but they fill needs they have and it still allows for the M’s to do the 3 way deal to get Hoerner. And they could still sign Sasaki. I’m basing all of this on I don’t think they can trade Castillo and not eat some of the contract.
I don't buy into Julio being a gold glover, but that is for another day. I don't see Robles having the same success as last year so I really think he is the weak link. Moving Julio to the corner would be answering my prayer. I am not 100% sure Randy finishes the year with M's either.I say Cowser so then they can use the DH with rotating Randy/Julio/Robles. Cause eventually we all need to come to realization that Julio playing CF isn’t good for the team. I know that sounds dumb because he is a gold glove caliber CF, but he gets hurt every year and less wear and tear on his body the better. Even when he is struggling it is better for him to be in the lineup as opposed to getting physical therapy.

I would love to see him pitch. I know very little about him other than some articles. Should be fun to see him in spring.I like Michael Morales I think that is someone to watch out for if he was performing well towards the end of the season in AA and he killed it in A+. He if starts off hot in AA we can move off whatever Hancock is and give Morales some starts at the pro level.
I really do hope Seattle and the Chicago’s pull off a 3 team deal. 4 prospects two from Seattle and two from the Cubs plus Haniger to CWS, Crochet to the Cubs and Hoerner to Seattle. Or let’s get crazy and add more prospects and get Bellinger too. Bellinger would seem more palatable for ownership to add more payroll than they want because Bellinger will opt out.
I keep reading that Bellinger could be had for basically nothing. They just want him off their books. We will see how true that is here real soon.I really do hope Seattle and the Chicago’s pull off a 3 team deal. 4 prospects two from Seattle and two from the Cubs plus Haniger to CWS, Crochet to the Cubs and Hoerner to Seattle. Problem with the Cubs is they are a terrible partner cause both teams want MLB players not prospects. I mentioned the Orioles prospects because they are blocked and IMO even as a prospect Mayo is more of a complete player than Santana or Turner and Cowser is a legit defensive replacement in the OF unlike Moore.
