Well..In case anyone forgot...
The shitty thing about this is the Angels spend and are nowhere near competing for the playoffs and if Seattle spent 250 to 275mil on the right players with this rotation, they probably be in the playoffs 2 or 3 straight years.Division:
Rangers - $966.7M
Angels - $535.1M
Astros - $376.6M
Mariners - $183.3M
Or more. The shitty thing about this is the Angels spend and are nowhere near competing for the playoffs and if Seattle spent 250 to 275mil on the right players with this rotation, they probably be in the playoffs 2 or 3 straight years.

This is what sucks about them being in the division and Jerry coming from there. It gives ownership a prime of example that buying a championship caliber team doesn’t always work out. It isn’t even necessarily needing a $200 million dollar payroll, it’s Jerry being able to discuss trading for Soto without having to get permission. The Mariners could’ve easily traded for him last offseason but paying his salary was a no go IMO. Just adding Soto to the lineup last year and this team is the division winner and with how hot they got in September they might have won the World Series. The shitty thing about this is the Angels spend and are nowhere near competing for the playoffs and if Seattle spent 250 to 275mil on the right players with this rotation, they probably be in the playoffs 2 or 3 straight years.
Yes but I'm going on the lower end since this ownership sucks ass but 350 to 400mil would have been nice.Or more.
It's a poor example that Jerry gives cause yes only 1 team can win a WS but top payrolls usually land in the playoffs to give themselves a chance for a WS title. The Angels spend stupid money which is why they suck but Dodgers/Yankees/Phillies and others spend big money on the right players and needs of the team and we usually see these teams in the playoffs. A low payroll is an excuse from the owners as their pockets get heavier. This is what sucks about them being in the division and Jerry coming from there. For sure a higher payroll generally leads to success. The problem with Jerry/ownership is they didn’t need a $200 million dollar payroll and lash out at fans as though we are asking for it. Their core guys have been making peanuts the past 3 years. If you just look at the highest payroll guys last year, you got the 5th best starter, the worst SS in the sport, a backup catcher, a reliever who was dealt, a 3B who was DFA’d, the 26th man on the roster. I’m sure I’m missing someone but it’s just they need to spend their money wisely. It's a poor example that Jerry gives cause yes only 1 team can win a WS but top payrolls usually land in the playoffs to give themselves a chance for a WS title. Yes, no doubt having Soto last season probably puts us in the playoffs.
