There are only three options.

-Trade Haniger now and give him the rest of the year to sink or swim.
-Do something with France, either make him the 2B or trade because you are forcing Haniger to become the DH.
-Just designate him as the 4th OF. He does not have the upside that Lewis, Kelenic and JRod have so will not get the rope that those 3 have. Play him play like how Dylan Moore and Lopes were last year where he can be vital to the team in terms of giving time off for any of the 3 OF spots and can be valuable at the end of the game in any fashion.

I’d rather him come in and pitch than Montero.
Keep him in tacoma for at least a few weeks. Chances are someone will get hurt or something. But I like the idea of giving Haniger mainly DH ABs and possibly having France play 1st.

Seems like White is gonna be shelfed for a while and he was probably about to be ticketed for the minors anyway.

I really dont see him more as a 4th OF regardless tho but Ill let him prove that

I hadn’t even really thought of that because I was thinking for the future. It’s not like he is playing great lately but doesn’t France blow when he isn’t the DH?

The reason I just like the designation of 4th OF is because it has zero pressure. You are playing for more at bats, not better perform or you’ll be in Tacoma.

yeah he isnt good anywhere in the field, but if he gets back to hitting which i think he will, you can live with that at 1st.

I don't think Trammell is more then a 4th OF but I don't really think its a good idea to make that his ceiling yet by only giving him minimal at bats

Well generally speaking a 4th OF would get AB’s in 4 out of 7 games and most likely play in 6 out of 7 games in some capacity. I guess I just think a 4th OF isn’t terrible or like how it use to be. Much like how being a backup catcher use to be a slight. Now it is more of like how a 3rd back or slot receiver is an actual position now in football.

I, for once in Mariners history, hope they wait to see if this really does become a real problem by having too many productive OF's.
Yeah I probably shouldn't jump the gun and just assume that we're loaded at OF right now.

Mitch Haniger has a lengthy injury history, Kyle Lewis also has a pretty bad injury history and has only played 102 major league games, while Kelenic and Julio are also still just prospects.

- I think we should hold on to Haniger. I have to admit my opinion on this stems less out of reason and more from the perspective that I'm tired of trading away productive players out of the hope that the return is some prospect that will eventually turn into something. I've probably just become jaded, but how many prospects have we traded for that have turned into anything relevant for the Mariners in the last 10 years?

- I really like Ty France and think we should hold on to him but he needs a position to play out on the field. I recall he took a pitch off the forearm a few weeks back and hasn't looked the same at the plate, but whenever I've watched him he looks like a guy who really can hit.

- Having Trammel being the 4th outfielder is an option, but I would have to assume he would have some trade value being a top-100 prospect. Prospect for prospect trades don't really happen, but I would like to see his value used to acquire someone who plays a position we don't have much organizational depth at.

I am on the fence with Haniger. I do think Julio is massively more talented, but we don’t know. I lean more on the keep him and figure it out when Julio is ready, crap maybe Haniger can play 1B. If we had a crystal ball and see what the Mariners plans are for free agency in the off-season or if Jerry can guarantee trading him for a number 1 prospect then I could get on board. But it just seems hard to be ok dealing the best offensive player right now. If Julio was doing what he is doing in AA or AAA ok.

France hasn’t been the same since he got hit, that’s for sure. I can’t remember what it was technically diagnosed but maybe it is making him have to over compensate. Pitchers get the luxury of using arm fatigue.

There may be value for Trammell while packaging some other guys. I truly don’t know. I just really like his skill set. But, I also am the guy who was standing on chairs screaming at the Heredia was going to be a great player if he would just give him a chance.

The thing about trading for organizational depth is another crystal ball issue. If they are going to go after Kris Bryant, then knock 3B off the list. If they go get Bryant and baby Seager at SS, or the wild idea of getting Bryant, getting baby Seager but resigning Kyle and trade Crawford away would be nice. Going into 2022, as it stands, they need a C, 1B, 2B, 3B, and an entire bullpen.

When it comes to Haniger I think I've doubled down on not trading him after reading this article: Seattle Mariners: Mitch Haniger won’t be cheap in a trade the most reasonable trade this article proposes would end up with the Mariners netting a young unproven starter and a pitcher not even in the top 100 of baseball. I don't know if that's the best source, but as I said I'm tired of selling off proven veterans for mere prospects. It just hasn't worked for us.

Also I have to say maybe Haniger will continue to get even better. I'm quite honestly astonished he has been able to return and play at the level he has after all the time he has missed and the surgeries he has gone through. Pretty damn impressive when you think about it.

I'm still high on Ty France. Before that injury he looked like a legit .300 hitter with plus power. Nothing may have been broken or anything, but I can't imagine swinging a bat after taking a 90+ MPH fastball off the forearm must be pretty difficult.

I've said that I'm not a huge Trammell fan, but even if I was high on him you can argue he's the 5th best outfielder in the organization right now behind Haniger, Lewis, Kelenic, and Julio. I just feel like as a top-50 prospect, fitting in the organization as a 4th outfielder at best he has more value than that in a trade. The Mariners farm system is loaded with pitchers and outfielders, but we have not much to speak of when it comes to infielders.

Please don't mention the idea of signing Corey Seager, Kris Bryant and re-signing Kyle Seager (perhaps moving him to 2B) because the idea of doing that would actually give me hope for this organization.

What are your thoughts on Evan White and our catching situation? I really don't want to sour on Evan White, his performance defensively has been incredible but his performance on the plate has been absolutely abysmal through his first 84 MLB games. Can a strikeout rate of 37.6% be fixed?

With the catching situation, I figured the Mariners would be good with Tom Murphy and Luis Torrens but clearly it hasn't been good. I don't know if Murphy is just in a slump or what, because the injury that caused him to miss 2020 isn't one I'd suspect would still be impacting him now.
