Ugh... I have high hopes for him... And that's in AA ball... Obviously the M's weren't too happy with him in Sprint Training, which is why he was sent down to AA and not AAA...

I have high hopes for him also. I truly think he is just in some early season woes. Doesn't concern me too much yet but it is something to keep an eye on.

I didn't realize that. If I remember right, he hit a homer in his first S.T. AB and then hitless after that. That is struggling. AA should be nothing for him.

Good to see him get a hit finally. He needed one. I noticed he has K'd twice so far so at least he is getting the ball in play for the most part, probably a good sign.

Montgomery Deals In Tacoma Debut
Tacoma suffered a tough 4-3 loss to Albuquerque last night, wasting a high-quality Tacoma debut by left-hander Mike Montgomery.

Acquired at the end of spring training from Tampa (traded for Erasmo Ramirez), Montgomery’s Mariners organization debut couldn’t have gone much better.

Montgomery allowed five hits and one run over six innings, walking one and striking out three. He had only 51 pitches through five innings and finished with 71 (44 strikes).

Coming right after hitters, Montgomery kept his fastball down and got a lot of ground balls – including two double plays.

He has a history of issuing more walks than you would like to see, but that certainly wasn’t a problem on Monday night.

Montgomery left the game with a 2-1 lead, and it grew to 3-1 before Tacoma gave it up in the late innings and eventually lost in the tenth. The grisly details are in the first link down below.

Yeah, caution with Hultzen.

Before his injury, he and Walker had similar success in Tacoma a couple years back, and both were on the verge of being called up.

Since then, Walker has only had a total of 10 MLB starts.

Anyway, I liked reading about Montero as well. Lomo is a giant piece of shit, and 1B was a big concern going into the season. Will be interesting to see how much time Lomo gets to show he can contribute. I'm suspecting at least another 4-6 weeks.

D.J. Peterson not off to hot start for AA Jackson, but got 3 hits last night to raise his average to .161 (5-for-31) after 8 games.

Interesting. Jesus Montero off to hot start in Tacoma - .405 (15-for-37), 4 2Bs, 1 HR, 5 RBI and 9-game hitting streak in 9G.
