Ackley can play 1B decently right? LoMo could be the bench bat.

They both need to be reserves at his point until they prove themselves.

I was thinking the same thing when I wrote that. :suds:

If we were dead set on finding another power bat (that's a rental). I'd say Edwin Encarnacion, I wonder how much he would cost us prospect-wise? Def not Walker, DJ or Paxton.

I have been interested in him for the M's for two years now, but I do think it would cost of those two to get him though. I was hoping we could swing a deal for him using Franklin as the main piece last year. I know they were looking for a 2B and relief help. Not sure what we could deal for him now since they already made all the moves they will probably make. Walker or Paxton would get their attention though. Walker maybe, Paxton no way.

We could send them J.A. Happ, sounds fair right? :pound:

Rubin writes that the team has had talks with the Mariners about Brad Miller and Chris Taylor, but they could wait until January to acquire shortstop (if they do acquire one), whether that’s through a trade or through the signing of someone like Jed Lowrie.

Good. I would have taken hm off their hands, but not worth giving much up for.

Hoping the Mariners land Melky Cabrera. I feel like given the cost in prospects, and cash for Kemp and Justin Upton, I'd rather land the best remaining outfielder on the free agent market with Cabrera. He has been hit .309 in his last 500 games. The Mariners lack players who can hit at that level.

3h3 hours ago Zduriencik said Jesus Montero training hard and doing very well in Ariz. this winter. Wants him to focus on 1B this spring.

There was about 2 months a couple of seasons ago where Montero was doing extra cardio on and off thefield, and working hard. They were when he was most successful with the M's.

I still think he can be a big power guy if he chooses to work hard/stays fit.

He truly could be this years X factor and the good news with Cruz and possibly Melky signings is that Montero would be a bonus guy with no pressure to count on him. That could be big.

Yea Im not expecting anything out of him so if he does happen to contribute its gravy in my mind. Although Lomo was great the last 2 months he still hasnt proven he can stay healthy for a full season so would be nice to have a plan B at 1st base, or DH when you have Cruz playing occasionally in the field. Maybe against lefties when Ackley sits.

Looks like Lester is off the board now. I've gotta say that it surprised me a little initially that he picked the Cubs, but then I remembered that Theo Epstein runs the show there and I took a look at how much they're gonna pay him and it made more sense. He's got his rings, so he could either decide to go home and play for a team that appears to be on the rise or he could go where he'd get the most money. Apparently the chance to make nearly $26 million a year was too good to pass up.

Ugh...I think Viciedo is a bum...Cabrera would actually give the Mariners a legitimate MLB line up for the first time in a decade.
