I believe it's only a few posts made now. It used to be 50 posts and several days back when we were fighting the Chinese cheap high quality jerseys.
@Herky : Thanks for the reply. A few guys have already come over from the espn board . Hope there are plenty more to come. Most just like to talk Bears. But there are a few who like to argue with trolls. Really don't know how this site controlls trolling. But while I didn't involve myself in it. Have to admit it made some entertaining reading.
Again Thanks.

There is a rules board near the top, it says you can smack talk a little on the main board but to be more respectful on the team boards.

Ya the QBs did good but the offenses declined as a whole. I don't know if that is true but that is what I see a lot of people saying. Me I am excited to see a real offensive coach in Chicago for the first time. I'm not sold on our new fearless leader (Emory) but love the T man hire.

:omg: Don't know if this site allows trolling . But we'll find out pretty quickly.

Yeah no kidding. This is what happens when I see Brian and Nate go at it: :deadhorse:

Hopefully we won't see many more Berkettes over here and ol' Alex Mueller sticks to one name.

Good post: But T-man has been successful in the NFL as well. The 2002 Raiders who he OC'ed where 1 the leagues best O's . Actually made Rich Gannon the leagues MVP, and his O took the Raiders to the superbowl. But his accomplishments don,t stop there. Steve Young,Jake Plummer, Scott Mitchell all had their best years under T-mans tutelage. In fact it has been reported after the 2002 season he was 1 of the hottest OCs in the NFL. Don't know what swayed other teams from him then. But glad Phil took a shot him.

Equally nice post 63bears40.

Ya the QBs did good but the offenses declined as a whole. I don't know if that is true but that is what I see a lot of people saying.

Since there could arguably be some homerism involved here, I went to the Pro-Football Reference site to look up some numbers.

I won't bore you with all the stats, but in 7 seasons as the Offensive Coordinator of the 49ers, Cardinals and Raiders, Trestman's offense had an average of 3806 passing yards and 1574 rushing yards.

That's an average of 336.3 yards per game. Which would put the Bears about 20th (based on last year's NFL stats.) The passing average (237) would put the Bears 12th. And the rushing average (98.3) would drop the Bears to 26th.

Let me just say that the 3806 passing yards average would be quite an increase for Cutler who has averaged on 3048.7 in the last 3 seasons.

But I haven't gotten to the good part yet!

In Trestman's first seasons with his new teams (Niners, Raiders, & Cards), he's averaged 4412 passing yards (275.5 yards per game). Which is good enough for 7th in the NFL. His rushing averages increase to 1622.7 (or 101.4 yards per game) which is good enough for 23rd. Overall his first-year offenses would be ranked 6th.

If you're a pessimist, you should also know that in the subsequent years that Trestman coached, his main star players had trouble staying healthy - not only his trio of QB (Young, Plummer and Gannon), but his running backs were nothing of the caliber of a Matt Forte. (Murrell, Pittman, Garner, Wheatley)

Bears had a good line around the super bowl run, so I wouldn't blame Lovie, entirely.
I have been screaming at the Tv for quite a while now about the Oline. From the penalties to the lack of effort and talent. I am not blaming lovie completely, but getting an old beat up Orlando Pace and piccking one Olineman in a draft, does show a commitment to the offense. He loved to draft DB and return guys over anything else, well throw in cedric bensons sorry ass i guess. I like what trestamn has done so far, still dont know how it will work out yet.

LOL. Not really familiar with GB posters names. As I pretty much stayed off their board , when I got banned for argueing w/ wookie. But I am aware of the GB trolls that patrolled the Bears board.
Just hope we all have a good experience here.

I loved getting Bostic/Greene/Washington. Our D just got younger and meaner. They'll be able to play in spot duty/special teams to get the flow and speed of the NFL game and be able to hit the ground running in 2014.
I agree . The 1 yr contracts given to Anderson & Williams were stop gap options. Really don't know much about the Rooks. But watching the Vids @ Bears.com on the mini camps. Seems the coaches like them ( the rooks that is).
I'm more worried about our D-line rotation right now, more than the LBs. I liked what Rod has done there. Just don't have a clue to what Tucker has planned there. And as far as the D goes, I'm also concerned about our CBs. Hayden isn't the perfect Nickel back. And if Peanut misses any time ( which he seems to do more often with time), Bowman is likely his replacement . Yikes.

I think the current woes stemmed more from Martz's system, and more importantly, Mike Tice's ego.

Dude thinks he can take anybody and make em' a LT. Everyone was always a project with that guy. His reputation as an offensive line guru, proceeded him, and I think it got the best of him, and went to his head.
I think our current woes stem from poor drafting by Angelo. He found Tate & Brown in Fa, when the O-line became respectable. But couldn't draft worth lick. And 2012 when there was a stable of good O-linemen in FA, he low balled 1 guy( from Pitt I believe) , and said he did everything he could to bring a quality O-lineman here.
I'll put some of the blame on Lovie , He didn't have clue when it came to the O side of the ball. But most of the blame has to go to Angelo. Martz's system required a good O-line , which wasn't provided. I think Tice had something to do with that. Wasn't a Tice fan . Really don't know how he got rep as great O-line coach. Didn't live up to it here.

It was a perfect storm of Angalo not drafting well, Lovie not being a offensive coach, Martz being outdated and stubborn, Tice being a meathead. If not for Toub and the STs we might not have won most the games we did.

Oh ya...overall, Angelo's poor early round drafting and lack of offensive scouting.

We'll hafta wait a couple more years to see how Emery's drafts pan out. McClellin needs to beef up a bit IMO. Hopefully he's not a bust.

This is what makes the Long pick a little more confusing considering that Rhodes and Trufant were still available. The 2014 draft has Roby/Purifo/Ekpre-Olomu/Clinton-Dix/Verret/Everett as possible 1st round talent and this list of poissible FA's. I'll put my faith in them for now.
