So like I said...pretty much the same D.
Agree w/ the Long pick. And yes there is atleast 1 Bear fan here.Kyle Long is a way better pick than anyone in CHI is actually giving him credit for.
Are there any Bears fans here?
Not to get started on the wrong foot here. That was my first post. Pretty much, left a world of room for error in your statement. My bad I overlooked it. So we pretty much have the same O also, I presume. So like I said...pretty much the same D.

1 could also argue Rod was the most liked coach. And the entire D might miss him most. But we will never know.Of the coaches gone, one could argue that Dave Toub will be the most missed.
I believe in Trestman. There is no way this O will be where it was the last 9 yrs. T-man ( as I like to call him) has done wonders w/ less talent than Jay @ QB. He also believes in protecting the QB. And I believe he got his start learning under Bill Walsh ( the West Coast Guru). Everything O depends on the new O-line, & how quick they get their act together under Kromer. It had better be improved. Just the additions alone should warrant improvement. Lovie was a defensive coach...Trestman, an Offensive mind, that in addition to to the FA pick ups, one could only hope that translates.
From everything, I've read, Mel Tucker's D scheme won't change but for a few tweaks here and there. The O, sounds like it'll be a lot faster paced, west coast O almost
Thank you. You might get tired of us though. Some of the guys really like to rambleAlright! Bears fans are finally coming in!!! Welcome to the Hoop.
Good post: But T-man has been successful in the NFL as well. The 2002 Raiders who he OC'ed where 1 the leagues best O's . Actually made Rich Gannon the leagues MVP, and his O took the Raiders to the superbowl. But his accomplishments don,t stop there. Steve Young,Jake Plummer, Scott Mitchell all had their best years under T-mans tutelage. In fact it has been reported after the 2002 season he was 1 of the hottest OCs in the NFL. Don't know what swayed other teams from him then. But glad Phil took a shot him.Over the last decade, the Bears offense needed work. And while we went through a smattering of offensive coordinators (Shoop, Shea, Turner, Martz, and Tice), nothing seemed to help the offense.
Many times, when a new coach takes over an NFL team, the offense of that team becomes rather conservative.
But the rumor about Trestman is that he is an offensive guru. If you check out his Wikipedia page, he's tutored some notable QB's and has directly assisted them to reach some pretty respectable statistics.
So SHOULD we expect Trestman to overhaul the Bears' offense? Check out some of these statements from Wikipedia:
As far as Tresman's involvement in the CFL, I realize that it is not the NFL. But his resume in the CFL is still rather impressive:
In the five years as the Alouettes' coach, they finished in first place 4 times. They made the playoffs all 5 seasons. They went to the Grey Cup (Championship) 3 times and won twice. He's the only coach to win the Grey Cup in back-to-back seasons. His winning percentage was .656. (By comparison, Lovie's winning percentage was .563.) He was also nominated for coach of the year twice, and won the award once.
So do I personally feel that the Bears offense will improve DRAMATICALLY under Trestman? Homerism hopes that it will. But based on Trestman's history, it just might be a reality!
@ beardown : Just curious . How long do you have to wait to post a thread?

welcome to the new boards.
i expect lots of training camp reports from you if you'll be hanging out there alot.

Noon: You spend too much time on the GB board. It works on your brain. Under T-mans tutelage 5-6 QBs had their best seasons ever. I'll start with Gannon, the Packer fans say McCarthy taught him. But he had an MVP season under T-man. Scott Mitchell, Jake Plummer, Bernie Kosar, & Steve Young (not sure) all had career years # wise under T-mans tutelage.I'm hearing that while the QBs under Tman improved, the offenses as a whole declined. Not sure if this is true but I have read several comments that it is true.
Don't know if this site allows trolling . But we'll find out pretty quickly.Welcome aboard brian!
