When the pathological lie leads to an undefeated season, I do. This was the greatest motivating factor for their team.

Think about this, a harmless prank just motivated a team to a 12-0 season. This is the greatest prank in the history of sports. It isn't even close.

As people have talked about, this may hurt Teo. Nobody else was harmed. Thousands of people were helped. Outside of a bruised ego, how can you be angry here?

I guess Bama knew about this beforehand, bc it certainly didnt help them in NCG.

So it is okay to make up stories, to in the long run get publicity and draft stock up? Pathetic!

I am pretty sure that you are headed down the road to hurting someone at some point in your life. I hope not, but I am pretty sure that you are.

I swear Smart has no grasp of other peoples feelings. His logic scares the living shit out of me sometimes. To know that there are people out there that actually think like this...

I am angry (as I said above) with trivializing leukemia and a story of a young girl dying of cancer (something that happens in reality to a lot of families) as part of an elaborate hoax.

I am concerned about how much it seems to amuse you :suspicious:

I've had many family members die of cancer. Why am I supposed to be offended by this again? Hell, at least $10,000 were raised for cancer research because of this, and unlike Lance Armstrong, there were no losers here.

Seriously, outside of your ego being abused, or you using ad hominem and circular insults, how does this hurt anyone? You failed in Post #1. Maybe Post #2 will be better.

Question for everyone about Smart. If lying to everyone about tragic events is not something that is a big deal

is a permaban where one idiot is not able to troll on about anything and everything hurtful to anyone?

God you are incredibly dense. Manti Te'o?

I'm assuming he was in on the prank. If he wasn't, I can see how him and his family are sad.

I've given the challenge for ten minutes now, and i'll give it every post until somebody gives a good answer: If Manti was in on the prank, who was hurt here?

No young girl died of cancer. If you were so angry about the leukemia, then how can this news anger you?

I'm legitimately at a loss here, and you still are having a circular argument. What is angering you here? If it were really about the cancer, how can you be angry about thousands of dollars worth of donations? You haven't articulated what is damaged besides your ego.

Can we get a :contrarian: smiley?

That is the longest trolling ever. Over 3 years, before he was even famous this person set out to capitalize on him without him knowing?

Give me a break. He started a rumor and it snowballed out of his control. Now it is coming to light that he lied through his teeth, as did his parents.

I've lost two aunts to Leukemia in the past year. this didn't trivialize Leukemia at all. It put leukemia in the spotlight and helped raise thousands of dollars.

You keep ignoring the money raising impact, but that is a very good reason why this hoax was a good thing. Other than a vague "trivialization of cancer" (which I don't agree with), what was damaged that would overpower thousands of dollars worth of donations? Nobody is hurt. Nobody is dead. Thousands of dollars were donated. Millions thought about the suddenness and horror of Leukemia. Iled to a mini-national dialogue about the illness.

On a cost-benefit scale (or any skill), how is this bad?

It honestly amazes me that you guys seriously think "OMG...thousands of dollars towards cancer donation was raised, but because people were misled, it wasn't worth it." Saving a life is tangible. Your emotions are not.

Edit: And i'll quit arguing since I am going in circles...

Yeah. How can smart say this doesnt hurt anyone?

It hurts ND, having a player make up this shit up and knowing they knew about it. And i can't imagine being a Nd fan, loving this guy and his "story" and troubles he dealt with.
You cannot trust this guy now. It isn't even about football, but if you think about it, this was all about for HIM and making him look better than he is or was.

Most importantly hurts Manti. Everybody felt sorry for him for losing grandmother AND gf. Right after this happens, draft stock^^, Heisman status^^, sympathy^^^.

All you talk about is MONEY, MONEY, MONEY.

It means nothing, if you don't do it for a good cause and in the long run it was to help HIM out. Lies, lies, lies. Soul-less Bastard!

I'm talking about cancer research money. There was a Facebook group that got $5,000 in donation in her name, and it is just a Facebook group (ie others probably donated to American Cancer Society, etc.). We can disagree on a lot of things, but cancer research money is a good thing. I think we can all agree on that.
