As a warning, look at what Colin Quinn did about a year ago when he went on Twitter and said Will Ferrell was a drug addict while on SNL, that he stole the idea from Anchorman from him, and that Lorne Michaels was just a figurehead and it was actually Colin that was calling the shots for years on SNL. He was completely fucking with the media and yet Twitter and every blogger on the internet took it and ran with it, no research, no facts, and then Colin Quinn turned around and said you guys are complete morons.

Considering the tirade his father went on about a newspaper, it would be believable that they are media attention whores...so again it makes this plausible.

Notre Dame Statement: Manti Te’o

On Dec. 26, Notre Dame coaches were informed by Manti Te’o and his parents that Manti had been the victim of what appears to be a hoax in which someone using the fictitious name Lennay Kekua apparently ingratiated herself with Manti and then conspired with others to lead him to believe she had tragically died of leukemia. The University immediately initiated an investigation to assist Manti and his family in discovering the motive for and nature of this hoax. While the proper authorities will continue to investigate this troubling matter, this appears to be, at a minimum, a sad and very cruel deception to entertain its perpetrators.
