"I'm going to keep Murphy out there fighting because in a minute good things can happen," Washington said. "I'm willing to take a chance on that minute."

-Wash

Jesus fucking Christ. :L

Yep didn't like reading that at all. You can still be loyal and lessen the load to a player in need of time off. This isn't to say Beltre will light it up by any means but sitting Murphy for a while could very well do him some good. He's pressing and playing every day has exposed him especially on the mental side.

How people continue to defend him is beyond me. We saw it with young last year, and we're seeing it with Murphy this year. Wash will be stubborn even to the point that it hurts the team. How can you apologists defend him? He hurts the team. That's it. Plain and simple.

I can and could still see Young but do not understand Murphy.

It's absolutely unacceptable. There's no excuse for this garbage. This is one more example of wash taking wins away from the team.

"We need to get Murphy going. I'm going to play Beltre. But I'm not going to not give Murphy a chance to see if he can come out of it. If he can come out of it, it can be a big boost for us."

The keyword is "If". It's not April and May anymore but reaching that home stretch where it's a what have you done for me lately situation because you frankly need wins anyway you can get them. Again Murphy is a career 4th OF'er and there is a reason for that. There's no need to be extra loyal to that.

No manager is perfect and my all time favorite manager with Texas was Oates but we had very little pitching. As has been said RW is a great clubhouse manager. And last night there was no issues with what was going on and who came in to pitch. The only error was with a tie game in the bottom of the 9th and a man on 1st that Murphy or a PH was not bunting to try and put the winning run in scoring position. The problem with that is it is a glaring mistake. For a guy who is bunt crazy to not do it then made no sense. And that is a constant theme with RW.

Exactly. Murphy's had plenty of chances. This idiot is delusional.

He's begging for Murphy to produce but it's just not happening. At some point when you're not producing you're not producing.

A good manager would understand that. Hell, it's plain a day to all of us, but he doesn't see it. Instead he'll ride his delusional loyalty to murphy right into the ground. I'm amazed this man is still our manager, and even more amazed that people defend him in good conscience.

That crap is exactly what I'm talking about when I say there is a lack of accountability.

Personally, I would love to see E. Beltre get a week or so and just see what he can do. I'm a big fan of Murph and he is a great guy but he just isn't getting it done right now. As much as I would like to see Murph turn it around, I feel like Beltre has earned the for-mentioned opportunity and we really need to see what we have in him. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like we will see that but given some of great contributions Murph has made in the distant past, I can sort of understand a manager like Wash sticking with him. I know his season has been worse than horrible but don't let that make you forget what he is like when he is on fire. Recall when he was filling in for Josh when he hit the DL late in his MVP season.

Murph has been exposed badly for what he is. A 4th OF. He's been hurting this team all season. What he did in years past is no excuse for letting him continue to hurt the team when its struggling. It's ridiculous.

Romeo, are you a big FO guy? I mean are you one of those that invests a ton of trust in JD? If so, JD has his trust in Wash right now and I would at least think that means something to you. Honestly, I understand your frustration but what good does it do to call for his head all the time? I guess I just wouldn't want someone campaigning for me to be fired... so I refuse to do it to others, but you are entitled to you opinion.

In his defense, he played 147 games last year and put up some career high numbers. Unfourtunely it seems like he is following it up with a career low season. But lets not take away from his performance last year by saying he was the 4th OF. He wasn't... I never heard of a 4th OF playing 147 games. I guess you could call that a fluke season but still he took on the load fine last year, of course last season doesn't mean a thing about this season and I agree, it is time to give Beltre a shot.

I believe JD is in a difficult spot right now and he has to handle situation delicately. If he handles it I believe it will be in the off season like he did with Young. Frankly I find it ridiculous that he had to trade young away to keep wash from putting him in the lineup every day.

That said, wash deserves to be fired last season and I will always call a spade a spade. You don't want someone calling for your job? Don't be shitty at your job. The man should be let go immediately since his comments pretty much show he has no inclination to change in any way.

He had a .333 babip last year that several of us indicated would be unsustainable. Guess what, it was. I'm fine with wash giving Murphy time to turn it around but it's well past that time. I don't care what he did last year, he's killing us this year and wash has said he won't give Beltre his shot in spite of all that. That is unacceptable to me. The man needs to go. Period.

Yes he played a lot last year but he was still considered that 4th OF'er type and he had stable buffer in Josh still being here on top of Nelly etc. That said this could just one of those down years for him. If he comes out next season and bats 280 with 15 home runs 75 RBI's then I frankly won't be surprised but when the times are trying and the season is coming in the home stretch it is all about what have you done for me lately and situational. I know Beltre doesn't have a long track record but I'm willing to bet he couldn't be as bad as Murphy. Murphy is just really bad this season and we're 2 days from Aug 1. At this point the team making the post season is far more important than risking not putting him in the lineup in some false home he'll magically figure it out. If he figures it out then he can do it after being benched and taking some time off. But it doesn't look like it is going to happen unfortunately. It's very disappointing and I have always been and still am a Wash backer but this is very disappointing to hear. He's managing the Texas Rangers, not the Texas David Murphys.

I don't get the concept of a 4th OF. He had basically a full season last year and it was a career year for him. Where do you make the designation between a full timer and a 4th guy?

His season was fueled largely by luck as indicated by his .333 babip.
