I hate lance. Always have. Even when he was on a roll for us, I didn't like him. I wish we'd just get rid of him. Its just 250 pounds of wasted space

Assuming Ben Rodgers has a picture snapped exactly at the time of the walkoff and posted it ... rather than just posting a file photo of Berkman (wearing a blue satin warm up ... last night? ... Really?)

I don't think we would expect Lance who is out on the DL to be running around home plate and jumping up and down like a Little Leaguer.

Lance can easily be moved to the 60-day DL if it looks like he's not responding to treatment of his hip. That will make a roster spot available. TEX isn't going to DFA him ... because if he does recover he'd be playoff eligible if still on the DL on 1 Sep.

See picture #5.

And he wasnt jumping around with the others...but Tep, Harrison & Colby sure were...

Al ... you and I have been of a common perspective on most things for years. But I put more responsibility for total team performance on the field manager. So does Wash (from the ESPN piece when he was hired in Nov 06):

"I'm going to be a players' manager. My job is solely to make sure that every player on the Texas Rangers feels like they are part of everything going on here," Washington said Monday night, when he was introduced at a news conference. "As a manager, I'm no good if the players don't get it done. If the players get it done, I'm great."

Rangers hire ex-A's assistant Washington as manager - MLB - ESPN

We can debate as to whether Wash 'got schooled' in the 2010 and 2011 WS or not. What is clear fact though was the failure of a number of players performance and attentiveness on the field during the second half of 2012 which resulted in TEX dropping to the 1 game WC elimination and then being beat at home.

Player performance during through June 2013 had TEX leading the ALW with the best if not close to the best record in the AL. Since then offensive performance ... hitting, base running and field play have been near or at the bottom and TEX finds itself 6 games back ... about a 12 game swing in about two months.
Wash said it when he was hired: "I'm no good if the players don't get it done".

I am not saying that Wash ought to be canned mid season if TEX does not get back on the winning path equal to its potential. But there ought to be a caution to management including Wash that offensive performance is the combined responsibility of the players and management's decisions about how, where and when they are employed. If season performance does not get back where it needs to be I would not be surprised at all to see some serious roster and management changes.

Fans expect this team to win and compete effectively and not get swept in near back to back series with BAL or CLE. TEX should not be six games back of OAK (was almost seven back).

If the manager and coaches are just shrugging and believe the players are responsible for getting it straightened out … then I would remind Wash of his comment back in November 2006 when he got the job.

I have been around long enough to understand why managers get fired. There is no question that if the team doesn't perform more often than not the manager gets canned. However the nightly complaining about every move that the manager makes that doesn't work is tiring since he gets no credit for doing something right. And there had to be plenty of right to make it to back to back World Series.
Players not hitting and is hardly Wash's fault. Hamilton was a huge part of our offense last year and when he went in the tank the entire team suffered. Is this Wash's fault? Hardly. Who's fault is it that he's only hitting
.227 with the Angels? Do we blame bad pitching, which there has been plenty of, on Maddux? Nope. Wash gets the honor. It's just ignorant for the same old crap to be spewed every night when the guy is doing everything he can to try and jump start the line up. Change managers right now and not a damn thing would change anyhow. The only time a mid season change of managers for the Rangers that actually worked? You have to go back 36 years to Billy Hunter. If everybody has faith in JD and the front office then let them handle it or wait at least until the season is over. Besides, most of these message board managers wind up being wrong more often than not. Most just need somebody to blame or something to complain about.

Sounds like a personal issue. He's on the DL. Give it a rest. TEX isn't going to "get rid of him" ... so get a grip and engage on something that matters ... especially when you don't back up your perspective.

Jamey had a link to the pics ... and Berkman is on the bench as Soto's ball was hit in the fifth picture. Can't tell what his reaction was 2 seconds later ... so still don't think criticism is warranted.

I disagree with you. I'm a pretty subdued and quiet individual, but even I stood up and yelled and cheered about this. The guy doesn't even flinch when the rest of the team is standing up to see, they're cheering, smiling, clapping. He's just... there. It looks like he doesn't care, at all. You really think it's OK to have that kind of attitude?

I dislike Berkman as much as anyone, but I don't think it's wise to project our own personal emotions on to players. They deal with things differently than we do. They are individuals. I still think the dude is a jerk though.

That's a load of horse shit al. I have given wash props multiple times for good moves throughout the year. You just choose to ignore that and only see the valid criticisms of him because you have some personal problem with anyone who criticizes him. Is he your brother or something.

In all of this you're still unable to defend his asinine management, and you want to give him all the credit in the world when the team plays well, but refuse to assign him any responsibility when they don't saying crap like, "he can't hit for the players." Well you and everyone else have always defended his shitty game management and ridiculous decisions by saying he gets the most from his players. Suddenly when that's not happening its not his fault? I thought that was what made him so great. Make up your mind. You can't talk out of both sides of your mouth.

You're the shinig example of what you accuse everyone else of, just in reverse.

Good point. On my end it was nothing personal at all but just an observation from the images and GIF's I saw.

He might be pissed that his body is giving out on him. Or he may be a huge douche like Roy was last year. I will say I don't want anymore over the hill former Astros for the the rest of my life though.

Don't worry Romeo. At most Wash will be here one more season. Let's just hope it's only a couple of months. Then there will be a new manager that people swear blind allegiance to no matter the outcome.

He is definitely a douche, refused a rehab assignment, makes a lot of disparaging comments, etc.

To me, it's inevitable Wash will not be the manager here at some point. It happens to everyone unless you're a Bobby Cox who even then, a couple of my die hard Braves fans swore he was meh until he hung it up. There is an ending of all tenures and the majority of them happen in a not so great note or ending. The question will be when. The earliest I see any change in manager is after the 2014 season. While I defend Wash from being fired, I do not always agree with his decision making and practices.

I'm sure, but I'm sick of this hypocritical asshole following me around every time I make a valid criticism of Wash. He makes no attempt at defending him because he really can't, and just turns it into a personal matter with me. It's ridiculous. I'm okay with people having differing opinions, particularly if they can defend them intelligently, but this self righteous asshole just has a personal problem with anyone who criticizes the manager.

"This game is about loyalty," Washington said. "It's about what you've done in the past and because you're struggling right now. It's hard to turn your back on that."
