I know it sounds ridiculus, but UNLV, playing a brand new NFL stadium, may get a look at the PAC. (Waits for roars of laughter to stop)

But seriously, with all the pro sports here now, and the practice facility, and stadium, UNLV will be getting tons of california recruits. Maybe not in the next year or so, but its possible.

This is not a battle that the NCAA is going to fight. So you have those fools, not elected by anybody, saying that "athletes getting paid BAD!!!!!". Then you got the state of CA, which for whatever reason everybody likes LOL'ing at on message boards, saying if you want to use their likeness then they should be compensated. Which side makes sense to you?

Of course they should be paid for that sort of crap. The state of California and USC, UCLA, Cal, Stanford, ... will shed a little blood if the state legislator wants to battle the NCAA. But the NCAA would be KILLED long term because there's a whole lot of other schools all across the country that wants to be rid of this nonsense and if another viable option presents itself they'll jump right on board.

Use your brain dude, not your opinion as a moral compass. If you think the NCAA won’t fight this than you’re more delusional than I thought. Again, you have feelings and opinions towards the issue. Put those aside for a second. What the California legislative committee is doing could do irreparable harm to the Big 4’ California school’s future.

Get a grip. There's a lot of people that want to give 5 star recruits a lot of money for whatever reason. They want to give it to them with a few conditions. Where's the moral dilemma? If a tech company did the same shit to some savant is it a big deal? The schools themselves would advertise it. Paid internship if you go here!

It's hypocrisy, everybody knows that fact, and if push comes to shove they're going to lose. This nonsense needs to end. The NCAA is garbage. But keep hating because "CALIFORNIA BAD!!!!!!!!" The saddest thing is that you won't admit the fact that they're all getting paid already.

California is trying to kill college football. That is a fact that you can't snake your way out of.

No dumbass, I’m just using logic and not getting caught up in the moral dilemma of this. The NCAA swings the biggest bat in overall college sports, not California legislation. The NCAA can just as easily ban these schools from postseason play indefinitely. No other state or schools are going to jump on that bandwagon any time soon.

Nobody needs the Cali schools. The two LA schools are so fvcking poor that they have to rent a place to play because they can't afford their own on campus stadium not to mention both of those schools failed to qualify for a bowl game last season. Nobody goes to Cal and Stanford games and nobody would care if the US air force accidently dropped a few dozen nukes on that state.

They're talking about a fucking law. This shit is going to play out in the courts with multiple lawsuits. So you have the NCAA that does whatever it is they do vs the biggest state in the country and some of the biggest schools in the country. How the hell does that work out "logically" in your head? Take off the hater blinders. The NCAA is like a half-decade behind the times and needs to either adjust or just go away.

You make it sound as though any west coast program doesn’t exploit interns. There isn’t a single professional degree some kid on scholarship doesn’t get exploited for. Students get paid for all the research grants, that are more than the athletic department budgets, the universities receive and exploit them for right?

College athletes should get paid and illegals should get free US taxpayer funded healthcare. It's shit like this that makes the west coast look like total fvcking tards.

That's not the point. The point is that if there's a star they aren't going to get disqualified for some of the bs that an athlete is getting disqualified for. And another thing is that for the kids in a high profile sport have basically one place they can make a living for themselves vs researchers who can pull the plug on what they're doing and enter the private sector. It's apples and oranges.

Let me know what schools have held a loaded gun to an athletes head and forced them to play college sports. Last time I checked this was still a free country where people were allowed to choose what they wanted to do with their life.

It’s not apples to oranges. Earning potential is apples to apples. A kid who enrolled in any research program and changes majors does not have the earning potential of high profiled athlete. Let alone the athletes that don’t make it still have the ability to come back and major in something opposed to the kid who gets his major in something. An internship is still an internship, regardless if he/she is an inter at a law firm that gets exploited or an athlete who gets exploited. Athletes have always had the choice of going to a different country and make money out of high school, but choose to stay in the states and exploit ESPN, Fox, CBS etc for national coverage.

And these same students in this free country will get to choose whether to be compensated. Isn't freedom great?

You went to a lot of effort to post a lengthy response full of drivel.
