The Big 16Then merge with the B12.
Don't think this will happen at all. As soon as the Big 4 in California start allowing their student athletes to take money and they're banned from PAC football, those schools have zero appeal to both athletes and television. They'll be barred from NCAA competition thus no athlete wanting to participate. Their sports programs would all implode.
If only liberals didn't hate everything American including college athletics. So what you're saying is that schools who have big contracts with all sorts of people are going to be hurt if the incentives are that you get paid, and btw, you play less games because you're banned! Yeah, very unappealing for the athlete who couldn't care less about school or winning at a level he isn't making the big bucks at.
The NCAA is going to lose this one because everyone knows the current system is absurd. I say just put an age restriction and make sure they're actually students trying to get an education and fuck everything else.
Here's another ranking from a site that's based on academics.
Rankings: UW is No. 14 in the world, third among U.S. public universities, plus on Money and Washington Monthly best-of lists
UW retains top spot in medicine in U.S. News school rankings; earns other high marksARWU adopts six objective indicators to rank world universities, including the number of alumni and staff winning Nobel Prizes and Fields Medals, the number of Highly Cited Researchers, the number of articles published in journals of Nature and Science, the number of articles indexed in Science Citation Index - Expanded and Social Sciences Citation Index, and per capita performance.
So what you're saying is UW is a paper mill. How many studies on the sexual habits of banana slugs does the world need...
BTW...which one of those has anything to do with the students?

Finally, a ranking...actually several, that actually mean something...kudos.

Lol, you really don’t understand the free market do you? Yeah, let’s in the beginning pay athletes at these schools what we think they’re worth. Ok, you with me? Now let’s ban those schools from postseason. Which very well could happen. So what is the marketability of these schools football games anymore? How does that help top level recruits gain exposure to the NFL where they’ll make exponentially more money? Because what league and what competition would they even play against if they’re dropped by the PAC and banned from NCAA postseason? What then? What are these players who choose to go there worth? What endorsements would they get if they’re playing where nobody watches anymore? No networks covering their games since they’ll be playing for nothing ? Explain that for me.
Washington grossed just as much as Oregon yet they spent almost twice as much of their earnings vs Oregon on overhead.College sports' top 25 money-makers by gross revenue
It's all about the benjamins
California is going to go down in the books as the cvnt state populated by America hating fvcks that attempted to kill college football as we know it.This is not a battle that the NCAA is going to fight. So you have those fools, not elected by anybody, saying that "athletes getting paid BAD!!!!!". Then you got the state of CA, which for whatever reason everybody likes LOL'ing at on message boards, saying if you want to use their likeness then they should be compensated. Which side makes sense to you?
Of course they should be paid for that sort of crap. The state of California and USC, UCLA, Cal, Stanford, ... will shed a little blood if the state legislator wants to battle the NCAA. But the NCAA would be KILLED long term because there's a whole lot of other schools all across the country that wants to be rid of this nonsense and if another viable option presents itself they'll jump right on board.
