Knowing they have the 97th pick locked up next year. The other 3rd rounder was expendable for such needs. Giving up a pick for next year when you had no pick at all this year in that round seems okay with me.

Knew this response was going to come from somewhere..... It's still the fact he is trading a 3rd rounder (which might be pretty high) for a mid 4th round talent.

Grady Jarrett, Darius Philon, or Michael Bennett could have started this guy is a is a mid 5th round project at best

Just the fact that he was a DT, makes me feel it was a desperate, reach.

They drafted a poor mans Fairley when they could have just picked up his 5th year. Not crazy about this pick. Don't understand the thinking.

Well I am pretty sure a team will not accept a 7th in that situation. Just seen two other trades to move up in the 4th and it took multiple picks to do so. No pick in the NFL is guaranteed to pan out. So that 3rd pick next year is no more a sure thing than choosing Gabe Wright.

I sure as hell am not doing back flips on the pick. Just don't use Fairley with me. They can get the same production from him possibly with Gabe for millions less.

Bennett was on the board? Hardison on the board as well at the time(still on the board). Interesting pick.

Lions selected Auburn DT Gabe Wright with the No. 113 overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft.

Wright (6'3/300) was a two-year starter, posting 4.5 tackles for loss and one sack as a senior. He pumped 34 reps on the bench at the Combine, but managed a 5.07 forty, 26 1/2-inch vertical, and sluggish 8-foot-4 broad jump. Wright's lack of pass-rush production is a concern, and he was not a big-time run defender in college. A tweener interior presence, Wright's NFL ceiling is a rotational lineman.

Im still wondering how you guys know more than they do? Maybe they see this guys as a third round talent and someone they fill that can play a nice role. Whats so hard to understand about that?

Packers steal Jake Ryan. No wonder they're so good every year.

No offense but some of these NFL organizations better hire some of you immediately if you are capable of knowing starter material from home. Lol

This is a lot of the same we would hear on CBS boards when Millen (The worst GM of all time) was in charge..... "These guys are professionals, don't act like you know more than them!"

At least they aren't just sitting on their hands, waiting for the guys they like. Other teams are trading up so why is it that Detroit cant?

Yes they are. Not going to be looked at easy wins no longer, not that they were on my part. That defense is quietly looking good on paper.

Clemmings not impressed with. IMO he has a hard time with speed. Ziggy could have a field day with him. He got ate up at senior bowl with speed ends.

I don't want you too.... All I'm saying is we traded a 3rd rounder for a 4th rounder. Just think about that in it's most simple form.

I seriously want Olomu though. Stash him away and get him ready for next year.

Jake Ryan - LB - Packers
Packers selected Michigan OLB Jake Ryan with the No. 129 overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft.

Ryan (6'2/240) played linebacker and defensive end at Michigan, piling up 45.5 career tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks and seven forced fumbles as a 41-game starter. He was a consensus first-team All-Big 10 pick as a senior. A plus athlete for his size, Ryan ran 4.65 with a 34 1/2-inch vertical and 10-foot broad jump at the Combine. Ryan projects as an inside or 'Sam linebacker who could become an early-career starter.

But to ultimately judge that, you have to see the end result. Looks crazy to us as fans but good to them.
