I gotta see a DT come off the board today to be truly happy. I fear that Suh, Fairley and Ansah were all Schwartz picks, and that Mayhew thinks he's all set w 1 year Ngata and 1 year Walker.

A second round pick on a situational runner with fumbling issues, who returns kicks, and it sells well.

Kool Aid abounds with you people.

Any RB they took was gonna be a situational runner in this offense. Bell is in play for at least another couple of years.

My only hope now is we draft another big bodied rb later.

Who also has issues holding onto the fucking ball. Stay true to the brand kinda thing.

Ball security should be coaching priority no.1 with this offense. Stafford too. No argument there.

Ball control is coachable and why I will not freak out yet. IMO it never took with Reggie along the way. I have seen other RBs around league take hold of fumbling issues before with just a simple technique change. What scares me with AA is his small hands and that might not afford him to carry it a different style.

Seems as if Coleman would've been a situational guy too considering what the Lions want to do on offense. Looks like Bell will continue to get his share of touches. Abdullah wasn't my choice but I can see how he fits in. I dont think he has to be big to be a good RB.

I don't follow. Why would a non situational type of player need to be one for the Lions?

This pick wreaks of Mayhew shortsightedness. He's paying Bush to play in SanFran while spending a second rounder on what he already had.
(I'm not upset we didn't take Coleman. I'm annoyed we took Abdullah.)

As I mentioned, the only way to get a real feature RB is to grab one early. Most of these other guys dont offer that and are better suited in a system that uses multiple backs. I think the Lions found something that works, given the situation. They needed someone with a little more homerun ability than Bell and an upgrade over Riddick. They've got a stable that offers a lot of variety. I thought they had to pull the trigger on someone no matter what.

Ok, what was the better option?

He fumbled:

6 times (3 lost) in 42 attempts 2011
8 times (6 lost) in 226 attempts in 2012
5 times (5 lost) in 281 attempts in 2013
4 times (2 lost) in 264 attempts in 2014
Thank you Austin. Much appreciated.

Also, I think they concentrated on high character guys, with some experience, that come from solid programs. Supposedly Abdullah is all business and no play and is dedicated to his faith. I think that goes a long way now days with this staff because they are tired of the nonsense.

Not Ameer Abdullah. Draft another interior lineman for depth there for all I care.

Other than Yeldon and Gordon he's prolly the back I wanted to see Mayhew screw up on the least.

Really don't see how tiny hands give them much to coach.

Egh.

I don't want rapists and child beaters, but these are football players not choir boys. Caldwell has enough character to go around.

Hey now, the choir boys could sing a nice little tune in the locker room on game day. Lol
