As a husker fan I felt I needed to make some corrections on some of the misconceptions about Abdullah. I don't believe he is any more of a fumbler than the other backs in this draft (Gurley and Gordon). He had 5 fumbles in his junior season and 4 last year (Gordon had 4 in 2013 and 7 last year). Whatever his problems he will fix them. He is freaky strong (over 600 pound squat) and gets his pads lower than anyone I've seen and at times lower than I thought possible. Excellent pass catcher. Would have insane receiving stats if he had a qb that would go through progressions. If you watched Nebraska play even one game you would quickly notice how good he made our porous offensive line look (they were terrible). Consistently had to make a couple guys miss to even get back to the line of scrimmage. And surprisingly to some (at his size) he was our best option on 3rd and 1 or 4th and 1 despite having larger backs available and a running qb. It is very rare to see him get stoned at the line of scrimmage. Runs with determination.

Only knock on him is he doesn't have great top end speed, but his first 10 yards (acceleration) is impressive. However I never notice rb's with high top end speed do much in the NFL and not sure why you would place a premium on it. He will give you plenty of 15-30 yard runs but few or any 50+

He has been out to prove everyone wrong from high school (3 star prospect, only nebraska offered for rb), in cfb (2 other more heralded 4 star backs in his class Aaron Green and Braylon Heard sent them packing to TCU and Kentucky) , and now the NFL. He is one of the few guys that have gotten noticeably better each every year. Just a hunch, but Detroit will quickly fall in love with him and prove to be a diamond in this draft.

He is if Lombardi uses him that way......If Lombardi runs him up the middle then I would expect him to fumble.....He's small, so fumbles will happen in the trenches......If Abdullah fumbles catching a bubble screen I will rethink him......

If Lombardi insists on running a little guy between the tackles smitty has every right to bitch, but I wouldnt bitch at Abdullah....I would bitch about the play calling.

So only 22 his first three years, cool.

Joique Bell got himself some breathing room tonight.

He fumbled:

6 times (3 lost) in 42 attempts 2011
8 times (6 lost) in 226 attempts in 2012
5 times (5 lost) in 281 attempts in 2013
4 times (2 lost) in 264 attempts in 2014

We already have a tiny guy that was drafted at #54 to catch passes.

He never fucking plays. (Without looking it up I bet he weighes as much as AA.)

No problem there......If you fumble, you need a boot in the ass......But can we get a compliment if Abudallah only fumbles once all year?

I would take that.

Once a month ain't gonna happen.

Unless he doesn't play. So sure, I'd give AA and MMII a big round of applause if he fumbled once all season.

Well that's what I was counting on.......I was hoping he only had 20 carries all year and fumbled once......That way I could talk smack.....Lmao...

FYI it's not a fumble if a Lion falls on it or recovers it.

A fumble is a ball on the ground.

Don't you go being a fumble apologist on me. We got enough of those already.

And somehow a DE that tips a ball in the air but the CB gets credit for a INT......Stats lie.......

Fumbles don't.

Unless yer an apologist. (It was snowy in Philly that one Sunday in '13. Staff still led the league in putting the ball on the turf though.)

Tiny hands lead to fumbles. Trust me. (I dropped my phone twice while thumbing out that post.)

We can protest and kill the commish, to make sure the balls are smaller or bring them down below 11 psi..........OR we can get you a 20 inch IPAD so that mistake doesn't take place again.

He doesn't dance around and has great hands, but I can't call someone who ran a 4.6 explosive. I think he will be a solid player, but if the Lions were looking for a homerun threat, IMO, they should have went with Duke Johnson or Tevin Coleman.

You can't go wrong with his character or his hands though. I read he hasn't dropped a pass in 2 years. I guess it all depends how the Lions are going to use them.
He ran a 4.51 at his pro day.

Maybe I'm just over sedated from the constant flow of ecigs entering my bloodstream since 8pm Thursday, but I'm really happy w the draft so far.

Abdullah was one of my favorite college players this year.

Anyone else notice last night when the TV cameras showed Ifo Ekpre-Olomu, everyone at his house party went nuts thinking he was being drafted lol I thought that was pretty funny.

They cut away pretty quickly after that.

He will make a good change of pace back. Do not think he is an every down king of guy. We loved him at N.U. hope he gives the Lions something to cheer about.
