The Nats just may start steamrolling that garbage

What? Are they gonna give Josh Donaldson a 5 year, 120 million dollar contract or something?
I mean, I sort of understand them wanting to let the next GM make the moves that would shape the franchise, but not making any serious moves in this market is silly.

Its close, but to be fair, the Mets best hitter this season is now batting cleanup for the Phils, so that tells you how close they actually are

Scott Kingery has stuck in that lineup all season, Id wager he has to be one of the 5 worst hitters in all of baseball in 2018

Well, JP Crawford getting hurt kinda forced their hand. Kingery will probably be a bench piece now that they have Cabrera, though their defense will take another hit they really can't afford.

I love their owner, apparently will be in hard for Machado AND Bryce, so at least they recognize whats needed...An Impact Bat (s) so sorely needed

Has Nick Williams ever actually done anything good?

Harper will be a Brave. In an ideal world, Ender Inciarte gets traded and we give Nick Markakis a 2 year deal too. He signed on for some hard times, I'd hate for him to miss out on the turnaround.

They do the same thing every season, trust me, living in this city, that fanbase continues to buy in every year, blaming year after year on "if we ever stayed healthy".....They lose Bruce and Cespedes and think thats the difference in winning the division, for real......The Nats have lost half their roster for parts of this season, the Dodgers have lost Seager and Turner for pretty much the entire season, on and on, but only the Mets suffer cause they lost Jay fucking Bruce....Its comedy central on the radiowaves here, considering everyone on sports talk is a big Mets fan

Brett Gardner didn't slug above .400 until he was 29.

I'm OK with a 25-year old corner OF slugging .460, especially after his bad start in April.

The Phillies are 22nd in baseball in wRC+, 17th in OBP, 22nd in SLG, and 19th in Fangraphs' Off (Batting Runs + Base Running Runs). So they're right around the bottom third in the league in batting.

They're in first place currently because they're 4th in MLB in pitching WAR, 9th in ERA, 5th in FIP, and 6th in K/9. Their pitching has been very good this year, and they actually may have pitched slightly better than their ERA suggest.

Among qualified hitters, Scott Kingery is 157th out of 159 hitters in wRC+, at 61. So he is arguably among the worst three hitters in all of baseball. He actually has a 0.0 WAR in 381 PA because his defense and base running has been good.

Though he's started in (I believe) 3 games out 5 since we've acquired Cabrera, a lot of that has to do with playing in an AL park, where Kap is DH'ing Cabrera in an attempt to keep him rested.

As for Williams, he has a 112 wRC+ in 306 PA, with a 0.7 WAR.

Had a "maybe I need new reading glasses" moment after seeing that score. Figured there's no way in hell that was a 9 next to the 1.

It's not good, but if you think that's the worst lineup you've ever seeen, you don't watch much baseball. I wouldn't even say it's the worst Phillies offense from the last few years, the 2016 squad scored only 610 runs and had an 82 OPS+. Their best hitter was Tommy Joseph and he had a 113 OPS+. At least this year's squad has 6 guys with regular playing time with an OPS+ north of 100 and a very good hitter in Rhys Hoskins.

Major League Team Stats » 2018 » Batters » Dashboard | FanGraphs Baseball

Also, those Nats have been scoring nearly as many runs per game as the Phillies and they have an identical OPS+.

Oh yeah, and they were averaging as many runs per game as that Brewers lineup you've been talking up all year. Lol
