Shaq was indeed pathetic in game 7 against Portland. He had 1 fg going into the 4th qtr...Lucky Kobe came through that game and was leading scorer, otherwise Shaq doesn't win that first title. Or any of the 3 titles, (without Kobe that is).

People don't realize shaq had been swept out of the playoffs 5 out of 6 years before Kobe became a superstar and the lakers went on to win 3 straight

Lebron's 1-2 good year does not a career make.

Being at a Jordanesque level for 1 year is longer than never playing at Jordan's level.

Kobe's career, as of today, is greater. However, prime Kobe was never as good as LeBron is today.

btw, javiabay, this montsho is an obsessed Lebron lover, who has at least 5 other i.d's to try and act like other's are in agreement with him. Montsho is a guy who confessed to wanting to take showers with Lebron....

Lebron's only looking good right now, because he's surrounded by allstars at every postion...He's no better now than he was in cleveland when he was choking every year. The only difference is Wade, bosh, Allen, battier, to bail him out when he chokes..

I know someone on here is a stat guy. If my guess is right MJ led in pts and PER in all of his Finals appearances. Who else has done that?

He led the league in PPG all six years, but he was #2, #2, and #4 in PER for the second set of three titles. Jordan was still the best player in the league after his first retirement, but he never reached the 1988-1992 level again.

It's a valid question. Kobe is the closest thing to Mj, with all the rings, clutch shots/buzzer beaters, 50 pt performances, lock-down defense ability, etc, etc...

Barkley said, Lebron can never enter the equation for an elite player since he had to run to a team loaded with superstars to chase a ring...That's the only reason lebron will ever get a ring since he can't win one on his own as the go to guy. He simply chokes under pressure every time.

And I have to agree with Barkley. Lebron is a coward, and awful under pressure. Going to a team loaded with superstars doesn't change anything. The real debate is Kobe or MJ.

Peace!!!

We all know what the real superstars have said about LeBum joining another superstar team...they would've never done such thing... LeBum BUMMED a title from Dwade and the heat.

Kobes problem was he never allowed a #2 to develop. He could have topped Jordan in rings already if he had of done just that.

I'm sorry I meant specifically the Finals not the entire season.

He was #1 in every finals in both PPG and PER. Shaq did it all three of his Lakers titles.

LeBron is the latest flash in the pant name, its the latest flavor of the month and by default gets that attention ...he would have to win at least 3-5 titles before the real HOF comparisons are valid. MJ is ahead of both Kobe and Lebron but Kobe is ahead of Lebum at the moment.

Lastest flash? It is no flash, has been the last 5 yrs and 10 more come.

MJ still best of all-time, but Kobe has the team player sort of missing in his game to the extent of what Lebron can do and MJ of course.

They wouldn't of won 3 without Shaq, he was the leader and dominant force of that team. Something MJ and LBJ haven't experienced, have always veen leaders of their teams, even with Wade already in Miami LBJ comes in abd is a leader---not many can do that.

Warning!! You will shortly be labeled a hater by Kobe lovers. LBJ did have that first year with the Heat where they had to figure out who was the leader.

You people also need to realize that these guys played in completely different eras. If Jordan played now he'd have 2x the stats as he did while he played. When Jordan played, you got hacked, beat up, hand checked, pushed, no fouls called.

You even LOOK at Kobe/Lebron and a foul is called. These guys play in a joke era, the joke that is the NBA.

It's honestly quite sad people put these names in the same sentence as Jordan.

It's a valid question. Kobe is the closest thing to Mj, with all the rings, clutch shots/buzzer beaters, 50 pt performances, lock-down defense ability, etc, etc...

Whereas Lebron has never even won a legit, non-asterisk ring...Lebron failed miserably in the finals against S.A, and Dallas, and was outplayed by Durant. Lucky for Lebron his teammates badly outplayed durant's teammates to get him the asterisk ring.

Wait what??? This is awesome coming from a Fakers fan. Kobe wasn't the best player on his team for many of his rings, let alone best player in the league or all-time. Shaq was by far the most dominant big man in the league, and when he left the team, Kobe (arguably in his prime) couldn't even get his team to the playoffs. When Lebron left the Cavs, they went from an Easter Conference finals team, to a team that lost 27 games in a row (and don't even try to say it was because they lost guys like Anderson Varejao.)

The 'needing to go to a team with more talent' thing is a cop-out. Kobe cried and threatened to leave when it was 'Shaq's team' and then cried and threatened to leave unless the Lakers signed Phil Jackson. He happened to already play for a good team. No use in leaving.

And lastly, Lebron was NOT outplayed by Durant last year.

If you seriously want to get in an argument about who's rings are more legiatment, (which is dumb to begin with) there is no way Kobe hasn't benefited more than anyone else in the league.

Not hatn, Kobe is one of the best ever, but you can't deny when Shaq is avg 30 and 12 a game they needed him more than anyone on that team. He was the leader, period.
