I have a question...i dont really follow the NBA until the playoffs but i here people comparing Lebron and Jordan all the time...now in my eyes Jordan, no question about it, is the greatest of all time (I.M.O) but why compare them when its Kobe is up there with jordan as one of the greats???

Can someone answer that for me???

LeBron is the latest flash in the pant name, its the latest flavor of the month and by default gets that attention ...he would have to win at least 3-5 titles before the real HOF comparisons are valid. MJ is ahead of both Kobe and Lebron but Kobe is ahead of Lebum at the moment.

I think by now most people realize Kobe wont ever be in the same category as Jordan. Some people think Lebron has a chance. I say the player that can match Jordans success hasn't been born yet.

Imagine if Kobe with 5 titles is not in MJ's category...what does that make a guy like LeBum with only 1 title? not that titles are everything of course but its a great start.

Some people think Lebron has a chance.

So does Kevin Durant and a couple of others.

2 of Kobes titles are with him as the main option. Durant, Kobe, and Lebron have lost in the Finals. MJ never lost in the Finals and was the MVP of every Finals he played in. The better comparison is Kobe and Lebron. Durant needs a couple of years to get into that level. No one has come close to MJ's level yet.

I agree. MJ was the main option in all 6 finals, never lost and was finals MVP every single time. That puts him above Kobe, Lebron and everyone else.

Even if Kobe comes back next season and gets a 6th ring and 3rd finals MVP, he will only have matched MJ in rings, but MJ still would be a good bit above him based on being unbeaten in the finals and having 6 finals MVP's!!

Same for Lebron who is 1-2 in finals appearances and 1-1 in finals appearances where he was the first option.

Championships do matter in the argument only if the player earned it while being dominant. And this is Michael Jordan in all of his championships. Michael Jordan has a point.

Kobe Bryant has 5 championships. There is no need to debate about how important Kobe's role was with these championships. But importance does not equate dominance. One could argue that Kobe's prime years were nonchampionship years. It is a reason why many a Kobe hater contends that Kobe would have not won any championships without centers of All Star calibre. Kobe however does show heart and determination for the game. He also has the pride and belief in himself despite his flaws.

Lebron has 1 championship so far. Lebron haters will look toward his failures before that to minimize his candidacy for Michael Jordan's throne. The Lebron haters will point out that he shied away from the spotlight, or got nervous in big game situations. His handling of the Decision was the ultimate source material for Lebron's nonchampionship heart... his first Finals appearance as a Heat solidified that stance. How things change the second time. It became evident that Lebron started letting his game do the talking.

For all the naysayers out there who think Lebron doesn't have what it takes, think again. If the Heat win the championship with Lebron dominating all aspects of the game, then it is conceivable to see how Lebron is Michael Jordan's second coming. Kevin Durant has a chance, but he has yet to lead his team to a championship. We have to wonder if Kevin Durant can ever lead the team with Westbrook turning it into a one man show more often than not.

Kobe's never shot over 47%. Jordan was a 50% shooter throughout his career, and was around 53% in his prime. LeBron shot 56% this year.

Lebron put up 8 rebound and 7 assists this year. Prime Jordan put up 8 and 8. Prime Kobe putup 6 and 6.

Simply put, LeBron is playing close to Jordan's level than Kobe ever did.

Lebron's 1-2 good year does not a career make.

You must have not watched the Lakers vs Sacramento or Portland. People give shaq all the credit but if you truly watched the game and the demeanor of the players, then you would know who the credit should of gone to.

Both series, Shaq had quit in his eyes but not Kobe. Kobe has that never give up, killer instinct that jordan has. Down by 25 against Portland, it was the relentless effort and attitude of Kobe that one that game. Everybody but kobe held their head down with quit in their eyes especially Shaq. It wasnt until Kobe threw him an alley oop, that he woke up and realized they could win the game. The kings series was even more pathetic by Shaq, to be the most dominant big man, the dude was weak on the defensive end of the floor. It was another series where Kobe had to show the team how to have fight in them. These are the things that dont show up on stat sheets but are things true spectators of the game notice

Kobe's body of work is essentially done.

The Lakers are unlikely to be a serious contender again under his stewardship.

His body of work falls considerably shorter of Jordan.

............

Lebron still has his prime window WIDE OPEN.

Lebron could in theory still put together a career to rival Jordan. Kobe cannot.

It is highly unlikely, but still possible for Lebron.
It is impossible for Kobe at this point.

It's a valid question. Kobe is the closest thing to Mj, with all the rings, clutch shots/buzzer beaters, 50 pt performances, lock-down defense ability, etc, etc...

Whereas Lebron has never even won a legit, non-asterisk ring...Lebron failed miserably in the finals against S.A, and Dallas, and was outplayed by Durant. Lucky for Lebron his teammates badly outplayed durant's teammates to get him the asterisk ring.

Barkley said, Lebron can never enter the equation for an elite player since he had to run to a team loaded with superstars to chase a ring...That's the only reason lebron will ever get a ring since he can't win one on his own as the go to guy. He simply chokes under pressure every time.

And I have to agree with Barkley. Lebron is a coward, and awful under pressure. Going to a team loaded with superstars doesn't change anything. The real debate is Kobe or MJ.

Peace!!!

Lebron needs a couple of more years playing at this level for it to even get close to MJ. After its all said and done Durant, Kobe, and Lebron have all lost in the Finals. To me its not how many rings but how you won them. If all else is a tie the last thing considered is the amount of rings.

I certainly watched the games you mentioned. I didn't notice anything in Shaqs eyes except him wanting the ball. Shaq got the credit because without him the Kings front line is never constantly in danger of fouling out. Are you sure we watched the same game?

Hey horns, you must be ecstatic that Kobe's injured so your Spurs will beat the Lakers...As everyone knows, Kobe' always been the Spurs killer especially come playoff time.Like in 2001 when Kobe avg'd 34.5 pts in sweeping the Spurs..

I do believe with Kobe healthy, Spurs would've at least won 1 game, and avoided a sweep..
Back to Kobe and MJ...I'll let in on a secret, Kobe already has had a career that's rivaled Mj...Lebron will never because he's humiliated himself in the finals and every big game of his career. You don't see Mj or Kobe with 2 bronze medals around thier necks do you?

I know someone on here is a stat guy. If my guess is right MJ led in pts and PER in all of his Finals appearances. Who else has done that?
