so 'league average' is 'good' ?

Exactly my point - I hadn't even noticed you said that when I pointed out that 75-80 percent is average

That's not good for something that should be a given

Nice stat, but its hard to foul someone as strong as Lebron that close without it being an and-1 unless you give a hard foul, and if the refs call flagrant its certainly not worth it. Where did you get the stat though? I tried to find shooting splits for historical players but I only see them go back only to 1996.

LeBron James 2012-13 Shooting Splits | Basketball-Reference.com
It's an estimate based on color sampling the shot heat map - compared to his integrated 3 point shooting.

It's interesting that it's slightly higher than his reported % @ the rim. Could just be the image pixel density is too low. But for the sake of the argument, I think it's close enough

I do concede your point, that basically only beast PF and C's can foul him hard enough for it to matter without it going 'flagrant'. Maybe have your G/F commit to foul him before he really takes off to the rim, when you think you're 'beat'.

I would - you are standing at the the line and you have two free throws with no pressure at all from the opponents and you are given plenty of time. 75-80 in high school barely a C average with 80-90 being B for good and 90-100 is A - for excellent,

No chance at hell, high school players shoot worse. In the 60's maybe 70's is avg. Great is in low 80's, now NBA is a different story.

The big men bring down the average. The league is in low 70's. Good is in mid-high 70's low 80's, great mid to high 80's. And excellent is 90's and above a that is handful of players.

This is the pro's though and in real life if you was producing 75% of the work assigned to you on your job instead of 100%, you would be fired. That's where I am headed with this. You want to call yourself a champion and the best ever in the NBA like these Miami Heat Assholes has been saying for the last year now - then tell Lebron to get off of his lazy ass and learn how to shoot 90% from the line - otherwise STFU.

That's the problem with today's society now, we want to make excuses when their are none to give and for the record I felt the same way about Shaq's lazy attitude about free throws and it's the way I feel about Dwight Howard's attitude. It is not acceptable to be shooting 75% when 90% would be winning games

You can work all you want and that doesn't mean you will automatically improve. It is not all about work ethic, it is touch and feel at the free throw line. And you definitely can't compare it to a real life job production, that is absurd.

I'm sure you have shot free throws before. You can ve a good shooter, make one imperfectionwith your shot or tired late in the game abd it spin around the rim. FTs are hardest easy thing in basketball. I think if you shoot 100 FTs and make 75-80 that is pretty good.

And you can't say 90% will win games, yeah FTs are important but like I said don't determine games. You will have a better chance, but you shot more jump shots and FGs than FTs. He goes in the post and drives more than he shoots free throws.

Their are some very good FT shooters that lose games and their are plenty of poor shooters that win games.

Ex: Durant: great free throw shooter and lost games. You can say it was those final FTs he missed but it wasn't, more to the game than that and he has teammates that weren't productive. He missed easy shots mkre than anything.

Let's remember, Lebron has never been the closer. Even last year during the Asterisk season, it was Lebron's teammates that badly ouplayed Durant's teammates.

Durant clearly outplayed Lebron in the finals, scoring more points, shooting a higher fg pct, and doubling Lebron in scoring in the 4th qtr...

In fact, every finals Lebron has played in he's been outplayed by an oppossing player: (Duncan, parker in 2007....Nowitzk/Terry in 2011, and Durant in 2012).

Lucky for Lebron he now has so many superstars and allstars on his team, he can't lose.

I love the way TLF act like it is so easy to shoot 90% from the line. Only 3 players this season shot 90%. I guess everyplayer in the league this year was lazy except Durant, Curry, and Redick.

and none of them call themselves or have the networks call them "GOAT"
yet they outperform the "goat"

I'm pretty those who said it probably said LBJ need to win a few more rings. I don't think anyone is stupid enough to say that if LBJ career ended tmr that he would be the GOAT

This is true - that's the reason people like Shaq Oneal hired a coach to teach him before he gave up. When you are on a miission to being called the best in the NBA ever, however that's what you do - you work on those problems that makes you a liability.

I never said it is easy - nothing in life that is worth getting is easy, but if you're an elite player or a superstar - that's what you do - you make an sincere effort to correct your problems and become better

Yeah I'm pretty sure none of you guys said LBJ right now is the best player in NBA history. CL is just a liar.

I saw more then a few threads and posts on CBS, that said exactly that, so cut the crap and quit acting like no one ever said it because many did even though I don't think you was one of them.
