The Fielder Contract is So Excessive that even if the Rangers didn't sign Darvish I Doubt they would have signed The Prince for that kind of Money and its Length. The Rangers would become what they were under A Rod. Eventually The Rangers would have no team around him because they couldn't keep Key Core Players like Kinsler, Holland, Napoli, Cruz or Hamilton. Plus the Rangers lets not forget have a Deep Farm System. The Rangers Lineup in 2012 is still going to be Great even without Fielder.

My bet is they shop VMart when he's healthy, while picking up a significant portion of his salary and just hope to get SOMETHING out of him

why would the Tigers suddenly decide to move Martinez behind the plate? they confirmed when they signed Victor that Avila was their catcher. Victor only caught 26 games last year and he played 1 game at 1st

because Victor HAS to go somewhere. You can't have Cabrera, Prince, and Victor all rotating between 1B and DH. Prince and Cab aren't going anywhere, Cab can't be at 3B anymore, so they either get rid of one of the three or find a place to put him.

Good god, could you imagine how bad the Tiger IF defense would be with both corners being taken up by large, slow, poor RF guys?

Like I said you keep Cabrera & Fielder, dump Martinez, he only has 2 years left after this year if you end up eating a chunk of money, and Cabrera is far more talented

I just don't feel Cabrera (who is a superior defender to Fielder) is going to be thrilled over being the dh, and Detroit isnt paying Fielder to be a dh. I just don't see how this is going to work.

Have them split time between 1B and DH, if they can find a home for VMart, then its a better setup with Fielder/Cabrera than Cabrera/VMart

I'm hoping the Rangers make a serious push for Jorge Soler and Gerardo Concepcion now... no interest in Cespedes though

Last chance to really make a splash internationally with all the restrictions starting next year

the Tigers looked at Martinez as a liability behind the plate which is why he only caught approximately 20 games last season and now with a knee injury he's even less likely to catch. Cabrera was horrible at 3B, he made MY look good. they answered their power problem for 2012 but have created major problems after that because no one is going to trade for either Martinez or Cabrera.

who is going to trade for a DH, which is what Martinez is now, even if the tigers pay his whole contract?

Rangers reliever Koji Uehara has invoked his no-trade clause to reject a trade to the Blue Jays, reports Richard Durrett of ESPN Dallas. The right-hander's limited no-trade clause allows him to block trades to six teams, and Toronto is one of those six.

VMart is a good hitter and if the Tigers are picking up a big chunk then it makes sense for a lot of teams that just need a hitter, esecially if its just for a couple years

Teams would take Young if the Rangers would take on a big chunk of his contract, which they won't, but the Tigers just might do that

Why wouldn't he? He has the hammer. Somebody is going to have to give him more $$$$ in order to leave via trade or they just release him. He gets paid either way and gets to go to the team of his choosing.

Or they take the list of 6 teams he isn't allowed to be traded to, remove them from the total, and find the worst team with the worst outlook for this year and threaten to send him there. Nolan simply says to him: "You want to play on a team with a shot, or do you want to be a dick?"

I'm just trying to figure out why they're so bent on moving him.

5HR's given up in 18 innings pitched, and a 2:1 FB to GB ratio is a start. Total of 8ERs allowed in those 18 innings pitched in Texas.

Since he folded up like a lawn chair last season under the stress of pennant race pitching a low stress invironment may be right up his alley.
