I would be surprised if they don't sign Fielder. Especially if he ends up in Washington for a 6 year deal. The only way he isn't a Ranger is if he gets that 8 year offer.

JIM BOWDEN @JimBowdenESPNxm

Based on our conversation with Ron Washington @ Wtr Mtgs looks like when they announce signing of Darvish that Ogando will return to bullpen

Rangers, Yu Darvish nearing deal

The 4 p.m. deadline to sign Yu Darvish arrives in two hours, and the Rangers and the agents for the right-hander are closing in on a deal that will span five years with a player option for a sixth year.

Major-league sources confirmed the length of the contract, and another said that the financial terms are more friendly to the Rangers than had been anticipated from the outset of the 30-day process to get the Japanese ace signed. The Rangers still have to pay a $51.7 million posting fee to Darvish's team in Japan, the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters.

Club brass and Darvish's agents, Arn Tellem and Don Nomura, resumed negotiations this morning after working past midnight Tuesday. While the principal negotiators are in agreement, some in the Darvish camp aren't satisfied with the final dollar figures.

But the Rangers, according to the sources, are confident that the deal will be finalized before 4 p.m.

if you're talking about Martin then they could move him to left if they let Hamilton walk

A packaged deal right now for a CF based on what might happen, if anything, with Hamilton after the season?? Especially after the Rangers invested the $$ and time to groom Martin as a CFer.

i understand what you're saying but wasn't Hamilton groomed as a CF'er and he was moved to LF?

The only reason he was moved to left was as a result of his bull in a china cabinet method of playing. He was moved in hopes that playing a corner of position might reduce the chances of him going on the dl for extended periods of time. As of last year.... It didn't.

my point is that Martin is good enough to play any of the 3 OF positions. we shouldn't restrict ourselves by limiting him to 1 position

105.3 The Fan claims that the deal for Darvish is complete and a done deal back at 2 pm central...anyone else think this is just more evidence of their unprofessional work similar to their commericials that mention their competitors in The Ticket and ESPN? Those commercials always rubbed me the wrong way and so does jumping the gun on a signing and claiming it is actually signed before it is even official.
