Yeah, can you imagine what the future holds as far as what payroll will be if resign Andrus, Kins, Hamilton, Cruz, Holland, Harrison, Feliz, and Nap?

How old is Cruz in that list? He's the oldest isn't he?

Oh yeah, it will take $20M+ to sign him, but that much per year for only 5 years is a lot more palatable to me as a fan than that much per year for the next decade.

same with me, but the question is how palatable is it to the Ranger owners? from what i'm reading they aren't going to do much above what they have now

They seem much more interested in finding a trade than spending money outright. They are very creative, I just want them to find some way they can tweak the team to improve it and relieve some of the anxiety I'm feeling about our very young rotation.

31. both Napoli and hamilton are right behind him at 30

I know they want to keep the core together, but if they're not careful they'll wind up with an aging and expensive team.

There are no former players on the payroll for 2012, at least not currently. I guess we could cut someone and that statement would be wrong, but as of right now we are all square

Agreed. They were paid off last year. However, that's still $100 million of debt, give or take, 70% of which brings nothing back to the club.

...without giving up Profar or Perez. Anyone else I can deal with losing, I think.

No more than 5 for Cruz or Napoli for sure. I might offer josh a little more just because he could certainly transition to the dh spot.

Would you be willing to give up Ramirez? If so a package including Olt and Ramirez could bring a nice trade.

Or do you dangle Cruz or Hammy on the trade market? Should get good value on either of them. both are power guys and good clubhouse guys, but I think an established power guy like one of them could be the big payday in getting an Ace here.

I think I could. I'm a realist in that you have to give good to get good, can't just package a whole bunch of crap for a good player. I just think perez is close to moving up, and Pofar is Andrus replacement in a couple of years.

I'd add Scheppers to the list of guys I'd like to keep, especially if we can't resign Mike Gonzalez.

Maybe Cruz because Murphy and Moreland could fill that defensive void, but I don't think you dangle Hamilton. That guy is such a huge part of this team and clubhouse and has already said his home is in Texas and he wants to retire a ranger. He basically said he'll resign with Texas as long as the offer is reasonably fair. But it's anyone's guess what that means, but it sounds like hometown discount.

What Andrus will do is anyone's guess. He is a boras player after all.

Exactly. I'd like to think he could move over to replace Kins and Profar could take the SS, but who knows. it would be really nice to not be bent over a barrel though, since you have a younger stud in the waiting.

Borass will probably stop him from negotiating with the Rangers and try to get something like Pujols got

If he does that, then the Rangers should ship him at the deadline somewhere for a haul of prospects. Andrus doesn't have trade protection unless he signs a new contract.

That's Texas negotiating tool with Andrus and boras and explains why they are so adamant about not dealing Profar. It's a good way to tell boras to piss off if he starts getting cheeky.

I also don't trade Jorge Alfaro, kid might just be a stud at the catcher position about the time that we need one

Other than that I'm ok with losing just about anyone

I want to see Martin Perez, Profar and Alfaro play for the Rangers far more than any incremental improvement that a Matt Garza might provide for this year

Hopefully we wouldn't trade any minor league catchers, we NEED all of those we can get. :)
