I think it sends a message to the team that if you don't perform in the playoffs and there's plenty of guys in line for your spot, you're not worth a big contract.

so basically what you're saying to the players is that no matter how well you perform for the team in the regular season if you don't do well in the playoffs the team doesn't want you even your performance is a big part of why we got to the playoffs.

You guys are stressing way too hard. The rangers went 5 yrs on him. They can't help it if the marlins want to throw stupid money at him. It just shows they'll make fair offers, but not stupid ones. Hamilton already said he wants an extension before he hits FA and just wants a fair offer.

im not talking about the cj deal....i think thats fine let him go....i just want them to do something that can get the last 2 WS out of our minds...if our moves this off-season consist of watching cj leave,prince/darvish and other players going to contenders then we will have failed and will have to hope the giants/phillies/rays want to trade us cain/timmy/hamels/sheilds

so i don't see everything thru rose-colored glasses so i get insulted. you are totally convinced that everything is going to be okay and hope that we don't do anything while i'm not. Feliz, as a starter, is a MAJOR QUESTION MARK, and i've seen nothing that proves any different view. i hope and pray that he comes in and pulls an Ogando but i refuse to look at it with blind faith like you. the fact is that we're letting a 16-game winner walk and replacing him with someone who has never started a ML game has to be looked at with concern not "oh well, less is better"

Come on Scotsman, back off the ledge. There is still plenty of time to get something done. Besides, they are not letting anybody walk. If CJ goes to another team for more money it's his decision.

exactly. i think it sends the wrong message to the fans and the team. to the fans and players, it says that the ownership may not be as committed as they claim.

It says that the team won't make absurd offers to good but not great players, 4 years and 60 million is completely fair to an older player on a relatively young team with plenty of potentially significantly younger starters to replace him in the the next 2-3 years

They gave him a good offer, what more do you expect from them? It seems like you'd rather they give him the 6/120 because a 16 game winner is oh so hard to replace.

There's plenty of time to send messages. There is still time to make a move and they still have work or rework contracts on Hamilton, Napoli, Cruz and Kinsler in the near future.

No. He's saying if you want an ace deal then pitch like an ace. Including in the post season. Otherwise well make you a reasonable offer.

I agree but I don't see them sitting completely idle. The gears are turning in Nolan and daniels' heads and something will happen. It may not be this week but they're not going to let this offseason pass them by.

i guess that means that Elvis Andrus, Nelson Cruz, Mitch Moreland and, of course, Michael Young should be allowed to walk too because they failed to perform in the Post-season. EA hit .235, MY hit .229, NC hit .226 and MM hit .103.

Cruz hit .226 in the entire postseason? Without Cruz we don't go to our second WS in two years. He was the ALCS MVP for christs sake.

Just put a sock in it.
