See my above post. And why do you keep ignoring 17 game winner Scott Feldman? It's no guarantee but it's a pretty good place to start. I see them falling no lower than 90 wins.

17 wins, 2+ years ago. and it's great to have him there. but 90 wins to me doesn't get us to the playoffs even with 2 WC teams.

NYY's starting 5 plus Hughes won less games than our 5 and they had a better overall record. Thinking we'll win 82-85 games without CJ is ridiculous. Also your cynicism of Feliz is completely unfounded. You continue to doubt pitches you've never seen. Pitches that Nolan, Daniels, and Maddux have seen, and are confident enough they're paying Nathan $7 million a year to take his spot. The move they made wasn't a "Well...I guess. Let's see what happens" kind of a move, it was a "This kid has earned it, has dynamite stuff, has one of the best arms in the bigs, and can be an ace for us" kind of move. You need more faith, scots.

Also even if LAA lands CJ, that doesn't address the fact that their offense fucking sucks. They OVERACHIEVED last year and finished 10GB. Having another good arm in their rotation doesn't magically make them a great team.

They overachieved by at least 5 games last year in my opinion.

okay you're right. the fact that no one has seen him start a ML game doesn't rate being cynical. did they actually say that?

I seriously doubt the Rangers fall to 82 wins, because they will do something to add another arm to the rotation.

They wouldn't fall to 82 if they didn't.

I wonder what message this sends to the team though. They just let their homegrown ace walk. That stings mightly as a fan, but I can understand them not going to 6 years. As a player though, I doubt you feel very comfortable about staying with this team long term. They will need to hand out some extensions to flip it around a bit.

exactly. i think it sends the wrong message to the fans and the team. to the fans and players, it says that the ownership may not be as committed as they claim.

yup..this...they have got to do something to show the fans that they want to win a WS before the team splits up and takes offers from other teams

I think it sends a message to the team that if you don't perform in the playoffs and there's plenty of guys in line for your spot, you're not worth a big contract.

You guys are stressing way too hard. The rangers went 5 yrs on him. They can't help it if the marlins want to throw stupid money at him. It just shows they'll make fair offers, but not stupid ones. Hamilton already said he wants an extension before he hits FA and just wants a fair offer.
