I would laugh if the Angels sign Pujols...and then the Rangers end up with Fielder...

Talk about a chess match.

No. He's saying if you want an ace deal then pitch like an ace. Including in the post season. Otherwise well make you a reasonable offer.

then why are othr teams so willing to give him the kind of deals they offering. if what you say is true then he shouldn't be getting those offers from them.

Miami is supposedly offering him 6 years, 90+M and the Angels are supposedly offering him 5 years, 75+M, they seem to think he's worth that kind of commitment so why don't the Rangers? and before you say because the Rangers have the pitching to let him walk. remember the Marlins already have Mark Buehrle, Brad Hand, C. Hensley, Josh Johnson, Ricky Nolasco, Omar Poveda, Anibel Sanchez & Chris Volstad + Javier Vazquez may return. and the Angels have Jered Weaver, D. Haren, E. Santan, J. Pineiro, G. Richards and J. Williams.

Cruz hit .226 in the entire postseason? Without Cruz we don't go to our second WS in two years. He was the ALCS MVP for christs sake.

Just put a sock in it.

and yet, for the whole Post-Season he only batted .229, weird isn't it?

I really wouldn't use the marlins as a shining example. Also, the angels made a horrible deal with the blue jays last year in a knee jerk reaction to Texas signing Beltre. I have a feeling this is just a continuation of that. They're panicking because Texas has owned them for two years.

Again, I'll trust the guys know what they're doing.

They gave him a good offer, what more do you expect from them? It seems like you'd rather they give him the 6/120 because a 16 game winner is oh so hard to replace.

i never said give him 120M, i said give him a competitive offer that matches what the other teams think he's worth. the Angels think he's worth 5 years, 75+M and the Marlins think he's worth 6 years and 90+M. and the Nationals were in it for a long while at around 5 years and 70+M.

how competitive is an offer of 4 years and 60M, compared to those offers?

and how many 16 game winners were there last year? i'll answer for you. there were 17 in the MLB in 2011 and the same number in 2010 and there were a minimum of 150 starters for the 30 teams. so yeah, i think replacing a 16 game winner could be tough

It might be worth reviewing some of the contracts that LA has handed out to Hunter, GMJ and Wells or why Mike Napoli wound up in Texas before comparing teams baseball smarts.

Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports hears from a source close to the Wilson negotiations that he expects the lefty to sign with the Angels for five years. The Marlins are offering an extra year, but Wilson is being swayed by the chance to pitch near his California home
