On the subject of CJ, I wonder if he asks what type of team plane the team flies. I know he can land the Rangers plane...so I wonder if he makes sure he is rated for whatever type of cockpit his new team has. :)

I'm glad someone is, and that someone isn't the Rangers. It makes our decision a whole lot easier.

It should at least keep CJ off the angels if he's really considering it. Hope CJ wouldn't be expecting stability because he'll be traded within 2-3 years.

That is crazy what they are spending or at least offering. Of course they aren't allowing any no trade clauses, so I guess they are still in the cycle of build up...win...sell off the pieces.

Sounds like this thing is playing out like I posted earlier. Rangers match the years for the Angels and let CJ think about taking the 6th year from the Marlins. As long as the Rangers offer is within a few million and the same years as Anaheim then I think he chooses us over them.

If he does want the most money then let the Marlins take him.

No way would I offer 6 to CJ. I would turn and focus my efforts on Buehrle if CJ is seriously considering that.

I would not have done 5. 4 years is quite long enough for pitchers.

I don't disagree. Though it may have just been Texas' attempt to keep him out of LA.

If I'm CJ then there is no way that I go to Miami. That team wreaks of desparation. It is very possible that he's traded in a year. I would stay where he knows it's good and he is wanted.

I think that's why they did it. You can't let him go to that rotation. It not only makes it tough to win the West it also has to be demoralizing to the team.

Or make LAA overpay/overextend if they really want him that bad.

That is quite acceptable. But that will give them 7 starters?
CJ
Colby
Harrison
Holland
Ogando
Feliz
Feldman

Not bad, really. Same as last season with more experience. That is a very capable rotation. Heck, any one of them could start on every team in the majors.

These twits keep talking about CJ going to LA. Texas has already offered CJ 5 years. Do you really think Texas will let him go to LA on a similar contract? Do these guys just make stuff up?

I certainly hope we would let him go to LAA or wherever rather than overpay for him. He's a good pitcher, but not worth more than $15M per year.

True. If they really offered him 5 yrs at 85 mil then Texas needs to bow out.

3:20 p.m. EST update: The Marlins have upped their offer to Wilson to six years, according to MLB Network’s Tom Verducci. However, Danny Knobler still labels the Angels as the clear favorites for the left-hander, who is believed to be seeking more than $15 million per year. A decision isn’t expected before late tonight, according to Knobler.

4:05 p.m. EST update: FOXSports.com’s Jon Paul Morosi states that the Nationals are out on Wilson. The Rangers still seem to be in the mix, but it looks like the Marlins and Angels will be the higher bidders.

That's a lot for Buehrle. Wonder if they'll stay after Wilson or if it was a case of first come first served.

That is reasonable. Teams will probably be able to pick him up at the trade deadline for a couple of C rated prospects. Does this mean they'll pull their 6 year offer to CJ? How about their offer to Pujols? I just read that for them to sign Fielder they'd need to clear payroll.

It's a lot but the guy is a solid workhorse that is good for over 200 innings every year and about 15 wins even on poor teams. He definitely not in Cliff Lee territory as a pitcher but his contract is basically 1/3 of that. Is there really that much of a drop off between Lee and Buehrle?

I guess the Rangers are out on CJ. Ryan saying they are not optimistic and expect him to sign with the Angels or the Marlins. Seems like the Marlins are out so that leaves only the Angels.
